Found Deceased MN - George Musser, 20, missing from Stillwater bar after closing, 24 Dec 2022

I believe his car keys were found right by the dumpster and wallet in a snowbank by his car
It's been so cold here in MN. The temp on Fri/early Sat a.m. was -34 windchill

Attached is the back of the bar where the dumpster is located and 2nd pic on far right you can see the corner of the dumpster and close proximity to the St Croix river

Praying his family finds him soon

It makes me wonder if he was accosted and started throwing his belongings to try and leave a trail or red flag for people that he was there and something bad happened. If it was something like self harm, I'm not sure why he would place his belongings there. MOO Of course if it was really him the cab driver saw walking later, then it sounds like he got out of the parking lot OK.

I feel awful for his family with him going missing on Christmas (awful anytime, but especially rough during the holidays). Hoping he will be found safe.

Now that I see that he has officially been found deceased :( , maybe this was paradoxical undressing, which can happen to people experiencing hypothermia.
 
Seems they aren't releasing where exactly he was found yet being it's still under investigation.
What they did say is he was found in Baytown Township which at it's closest point is 1.2 miles away from the bar and in the totally opposite direction from his home which I believe is under a mile from the bar.
Did the alcohol and hypothermia leave him dazed and confused?
Could he have fallen in the river and ended up a mile away?

What a tragic ending - my condolences to his family and friends

This is interesting.

I have to admit, I had anticipated that George’s story might be like that of so many other missing young men who disappear after a night out - and he’d be found in the water.

But two things seem a little different than the common ‘misadventure w/ water’ scenario IMO:
1. George’s keys and wallet were found, separately, near the bar
2. Seems George was able to travel a decent distance from the bar, especially in the very cold. MN has also gotten quite a bit of snow in the last several weeks - so anything not paved + plowed would be rather difficult to walk through.

I’m so sad for his loved ones, especially on Christmas.

I hope more information is released about the circumstances of his death.
 
It definitely would be challenging to walk that far for two reasons.

Last week, we not only had several inches of snow over 2 days but the temps also dropped dangerously low (wind gusts up to 40mph- wind-chill -35) on Friday-Sat, the roads were treacherous which is why a few who were kicked out of Brian's Bar at 2 a.m. were concerned because they couldn't get an Uber or Lift to come pick them up.
George was found in the bathroom on the 2nd floor throwing up at 2:20 a.m. His friends were looking for him but left the bar thinking he had already left. I'm guesinng George was promptly escorted to the door after finding him in the bathroom.

The keys were found close to the dumpster right outside the back door of Brian's Bar. Could he have dropped them and not known? Did he get near his car and drop his wallet out while looking for his keys and now has neither?

The path he would have walked or if he possibly fell in the water would have been traveling along the river the whole way. There is no walking path at all once you leave the downtown Stillwater area.

I feel awful for his family especially losing their son on Christmas Eve.
 
Awful. Maybe someone gave him a ride because he was intoxicated? Circumstances on where he was found seem odd given the weather. Sending prayers to his family ):
 
My heart goes out to George’s family. I also feel badly for his friends, who thought he had already left. They must be horrified at this news.

I know it still remains to be seen what exactly happened, but I wonder if the bar will have any responsibility. George was underage. Also, if they did kick him out after finding him throwing up, I wonder if they tried to help him find a way home at all? I know it technically is not their responsibility to find people rides, but if he was throwing up they must have known he was likely intoxicated, and with it being so extremely cold it seems a bit reckless to just push somebody outside in those temperatures. This is all just my own opinion, since we don’t know exactly what happened yet. George is an adult and I get that he is responsible for finding a way home and all, but I do wonder if the bar will be held liable for anything. Though I am sure those working at the bar feel bad enough as it is, knowing what happened.

A very sad situation for everyone :(

(Maybe he knew enough not to drive, got a ride. If he was vomiting in a rideshare vehicle, would someone kick him out into the cold? In these frigid temps, could someone be that angry and that cruel?)

I wonder if he wasn't the last person to touch his keys and wallet. Might he have left them in the bar?

Did someone take his keys to ensure he didn't drink and drive, never expecting the events that followed?

What a different outcome, I suspect, if that night occurred midsummer.

So sorry for his family.

If he was seen being sick, and was intoxicated.... I am failing to understand why he was apparently by himself later on in the evening. I really hope more comes out about the circumstances, and I sure hope he was not kicked out of the bar. I live about an hour away and temps and winds were especially brutal around that time, with wind chills near 30 and 40 below.
 
Would there be an autopsy? After I walked a few routes virtually on Google maps from the bar to the place he was found, I just can't believe that he walked that far, middle of the night, in subzero weather, wearing a flannel shirt, no coat. Had to have gotten a ride from someone, someone who dropped him near where he ended up. Moo
