Jury selection was underway on Monday

A pool of 50 prospective jurors arrived at the Hennepin County courthouse to fill out pre-trial questionnaires. The lawyers will use those answers during voir dire that is scheduled to be Tuesday.

Prosecutors say footprints and DNA evidence place him at the scene of the murder, but his legal team insists he did not commit the crime. Meantime, prosecutors say DNA evidence doesn't lie. His attorney said, “I mean, there's no question it's a first-degree murder. They just have the wrong person."

County Attorney Freeman said at the time his office issued charges in February 2019, "The DNA shows that only he and the victim are found in the blood samples". The defence attorney argued there’s plenty of blood and DNA evidence at the scene pointing to someone other than JW as the killer.

There may well have been DNA other than JW's found at the scene as the victim was a prostitute. As his hair was found in her hands, it's hard to believe that anyone else entered the room, saw her body and somehow their hair ended up in her hands. I would have thought any clients who found her body would have departed the scene asap.
