State's starting. He's talking about the night of the scene. How the first responders could've never prepared for what they saw that night & how loud of a scene it was.

"I don't have any doubt #JessicaChambers wanted to respond to those first responders," he said.

He's saying you can have all the desire in the world to want to do something, but some facts won't allow it to happen. He's using his own personal example of growing up wanting to be a professional athlete.

State is talking about how #JessicaChambers was covered in third-degree burns and she wouldn't have been able to communicate, despite wanting to.

"Just like me wanting to be a professional athlete, Jessica Chambers wanted to speak, had the desire to speak."

#JessicaChambers prosecution: as prosecution worked to include or exclude people, the leads ultimately led them to Quinton Tellis. Investigators had to circle back to Tellis because he had "obviously not been truthful to investigators; that he had lied." LIVE @LawCrimeNetwork

He says there were facts that would keep her from accomplishing that goal. He says the first firefighter to talk to Chambers on scene heard her make a noise that he interpreted as "Eric." He says that first responder turned around & told others on scene that's what he heard.

"And then it spread like wildfire."

Now, he's talking about how they thoroughly investigated all the Erics/Dereks with any connection to #JessicaChambers.

He says investigators weren't looking to pick on one person.

"#QuintonTellis had obviously not been truthful with investigators. He had lied."

Hale discussing how no one named “Eric” panned out & when cell data/video was pulled, it proved that #QuintonTellis repeatedly lied to investigators about the night #JessicaChambers was killed @LocalMemphis

so that's how Eric started? it wasn't that everyone else heard it as well?

He says Tellis identified himself by identifying his "aunt." He thinks the woman dropped Tellis off, Tellis walked to his sister's car, borrowed car, went to his shed to get his gas can, drove to where he'd left #JessicaChambers unconscious in her car & "lit this child on fire."

Bridget Chapman‏Verified account @bchapman_WREG3 3m3 minutes ago
State says #QuintonTellis told them he found out about the fire at the gas station (which is caught on surveillance video) "He had absolutely zero reaction to learning #JessicaChambers had been set on fire," says the prosecutor. "[Because] he already knew she'd been set on fire."

#JessicaChambers prosecution says the mystery hitchhiker was Tellis. He needed to get something he left behind. He texts Jessica - "good night," "sweet dreams, babe," "I'll call you tomorrow." Tellis later said he blew Chambers off. LIVE NOW @LawCrimeNetwork

#JessicaChambers prosecution: 7:42 to 7:46, Tellis was walking to his sister's house to get her car. "Do we see him strike out to Batesville to get the green dot" cash card? "No." LIVE NOW @LawCrimeNetwork

Bridget Chapman‏Verified account @bchapman_WREG3 4m4 minutes ago
He says Chambers was his friend. He says instead of worrying about her, Tellis goes home and texts other women and then deletes Chambers texts from his phone.

After about 30 minutes, the state finishes their closing argument.

Now the defense is up. She says the facts are #JessicaChambers walked & talked the night she died. She told first responders who set her on fire -- Eric/Derek.

Bridget Chapman‏Verified account @bchapman_WREG3 1m1 minute ago
Defense is talking about how several first responders kneeled down and heard #JessicaChambers say "Eric" or "Derek." She says the doctor who testified otherwise wasn't there.

Tish Clark‏ @local24tish 4m4 minutes ago
Defense closing. Attorney Darla Palmer... #QuintonTellis #JessicaChambers @LocalMemphis

Tish Clark‏ @local24tish 3m3 minutes ago
Palmer: #JessicaChambers was able to give 1st responders her name & who set her on fire. She said “Eric” not #QuintonTellis @LocalMemphis
