Loper was last seen at her residence in the 200 block of Clarence Bonnett Road in Lucedale, Mississippi on May 29, 2002. She had called her mother that day from the hospital emergency room, where she'd gone to get stitches. She told her mother that her husband had injured her during an argument, and she needed a ride home. She was last seen at approximately 10:00 pm after her mother dropped her off at her residence.

The next day, Loper's husband reported that his six-year-old son woke him up at 4:00 am. The couple's four-month-old baby was crying and his wife was gone. She has never been heard from again. Her family reported her missing on May 30 after they called the house to check on her and were told she had disappeared.

When police went to the residence to investigate, they found some blood, but it may have been from the cut she had sustained the previous evening. A search conducted in the area failed to locate Loper. Her husband had not been cooperative with the investigation into his wife's disappearance, although authorities reported there was no evidence of foul play. Her whereabouts remain unknown.

Mary Loper was last seen May 29, 2002

GEORGE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - May 30, 2018 marks 16 years since a George County woman disappeared. Mary Loper was last seen on May 29, 2002, at her home on Clarence Bonnet Road sometime that night.

Her sister Glenda said 27-year-old Loper was reported missing on June 1, two days after her disappearance.

It's a cold case yet investigators are still working every possible lead to figure out what happened to Loper. She has three boys. They were six, four and four months old at the time of their mother's disappearance.

WHEN POLICE WENT TO THE HOME TO INVESTIGATE, THEY DID FIND BLOOD IN THE HOME BUT BELIEVE IT COULD HAVE BEEN FROM THE CUT MARY GOT DURING THE ARGUMENT THE NIGHT BEFORE SHE VANISHED.

THEY ALSO FOUND MARIJUANA PLANTS DURING THE SEARCH AND ARRESTED CARL FOR DRUG POSSESSION. CARL WAS ALREADY OUT ON BOND FOR SEPARATE DRUG POSSESSION AND ASSAULT CHARGES FROM THE YEAR PRIOR WHEN HE ALLEGEDLY SHOT A MAN IN THE FACE. CARL WAS INCARCERATED FOR A TIME AFTER MARY’S DISAPPEARANCE BUT HE HAS SINCE BEEN RELEASED. INVESTIGATORS SAY THAT HE IS NOT HELPFUL IN ANY WAY AS IT RELATES TO MARY’S DISAPPEARANCE.

A SEARCH OF THE AREA AROUND THE COUPLE’S HOME DID NOT YIELD ANY EVIDENCE OF MARY’S DISAPPEARANCE. MARY HAD THREE SONS AT THE TIME WHO NOW LIVE WITH THEIR GRANDPARENTS. THERE IS NO PHYSICAL EVIDENCE TO SHOW FOUL PLAY WAS INVOLVED BUT MARY’S FAMILY BELIEVES THAT SHE WAS THE VICTIM OF FOUL PLAY.

<<Mary and Carl married in 1992. According to her family, the couple had a very happy relationship until the late nineties, when Mary began using methamphetamines to lose weight.

On May 29, the day of Mary's disappearance, Mary called her mother from the hospital emergency room, where she'd gone to get stitches. She told her mother that Carl had injured her during an argument, then dropped her off at the hospital and left, and she needed a ride home. Mary also called her sister and said she was afraid Carl would hurt her, but she was going to go home to get the children. Her sister, her mother and a minister she knew all offered to accompany her, but she refused their help. She was last seen after her mother dropped her off at home>>
