Great questions Treelights.

Here's some more:
Was Greg home all evening prior to leaving at 10 pm? Was his car in the driveway? Maybe he was out dealing with whatever it is he had to deal with and came home (or was driven home) for something and that's when the neighbor saw him leaving.
Was there more than one person in the car when it sped away?

In addition to the towels and pillows, there were also clothes in bags when the police came the second time. Plus a cell phone that was in the house was gone and possibly two weapons.

Welcome Montana Voice! So glad you decided to sign up and join the discussion. For some reason, the font on your post is messed up and very hard to read. However, the part about the prison being there and the rental property situation is very interesting. So it sounds like Deer Lodge is different from most other small towns in Montana in that there would be more of a transient population and a rather criminal nature to some of its residents. Is that correct?

Thank you Treelights and Montana Voice! You helped with new thoughts and information which breathes fresh air into this case. Did not realize the prison was there...interesting ideas about the rental property going to those associated with prisoners.

Wanted to let you all know I finally made it home. No place like it. Hanging onto each post more closely now that I'm back in my perch.

Some info on the prison. "Montana State Prison (MSP) is the largest correctional facility in the state, housing nearly 1,500 male inmates in a 68-acre compound designed to handle all custody levels: maximum, close, medium and minimum. It houses some of the most violent offenders in the state". http://cor.mt.gov/Adult/MSP

When I was looking at the town via google maps, I noticed that the it looked a bit run down. IMO the number and nature of the rental properties around town explains why.

Is the break-in at Greg's house more misinformation? It makes no sense that the sheriff would not have secured the house and/or taken the cell phone. The details themselves make no sense. We have a lot of break-ins. The usual story goes : the thieves enter during the day, stage their bounty by the back door (inside, not outside) and come back with a vehicle to get it under cover of darkness.

I am almost certain there are cell towers within a mile of Deer Lodge, thinking they are on the north side of I-90. If this thread is still active next week, I will check it out when I return.

I checked Peoplefinders for Greg and it looks like there is a Greg who lived in Rocklin, CA, Deer Lodge, MT and has a current? address in Roseville.

I am not in Deer Lodge, but close in Southwestern MT. I would like to know if Beverly and her son were dealing in antiques, if that is the reason for her trips to the post office.

Thanks for your post. :)
Greg retired from the city of Roseville, Ca. in 2010. He started working there in February, 1991.
He was a part of the Wastewater Utility Management Team. He was a Principal Engineer.

I totally agree with you about the 'private person' issue. It appears she was very active in her community. She may not speak of her personal issues but how can you be out and about and among people without them knowing your habits and how you handle yourself, etc.

Also, I think several people have questioned why they didn't take the phone. They didn't have a warrant yet - I wouldn't think they could take anything from the home, just look around until they were granted permission.

Going back to the new towels in the plastic bag.

http://helenair.com/news/local/upda...cle_f21bf134-1452-56ef-8512-5a2e6122a9f8.html

Did these towels still have price tags on them?
How would LE know they were "new" towels?
Would a burglar come into someone's home and hi-grade the towels?

Were the towels and pillows outside? The TV was.
Could the towels have been in a bag inside the home?
Was there a receipt with the towels?
What kind of bag were the towels in?
What kind of pillows were in the bag? Sleeping pillows? Or decor for the couch or a chair?
And clothing in a bag.
What kind of apparel? Also, men's clothing? One would think men's clothing, right?

Why would someone go back to Greg's home to "take" these items? And then leave them there...
(I understand that they could have been interrupted so they had to leave them there...
But yet, wouldn't they have come in a vehicle of some sort to take these said items with them?
If they were interrupted, wouldn't someone have seen the car then?
Or were they interrupted by a phone call and had to leave immediately?)

What kind of value would towels and pillows have? Monetary value wise, it's difficult to understand why
someone would steal those items.
Usefulness, on the other hand, that's different.
All those items are useful. The pillows, clothing, and towels would be used on an every day basis.
The TV could be as well.
Why would someone put these items in bags, then leave?
What else would they have taken, and actually gotten away with, other than that phone?

Are there different tire tracks, tread, at Greg's home?
Has the FBI/LE fingerprinted items at Greg's home?

Why would someone Need these useful items?
And why take them days After Greg disappeared?
Wouldn't someone have taken these items before then, if Greg was last seen on the 28th?

Also, could these have been planted there, to divert attention??

It doesn't make a lot of sense.

And why steal from Greg's house anyway??
Because they knew he wasn't there?
Why not take something of monetary value??
If they knew he wasn't there, wouldn't they be afraid LE would be there?
Were they "watching" the house, so that after LE left, they could get/or place these items??

Were these items actually in the house originally??
It sounds like the TV was?
Did someone "bring" these items to the home, or were they taken out of the home??

Also, if Greg's dad's home was being remodeled, or up for sale, couldn't these items be used as product placement
when showing off that home?
Could those items have come from the dad's house?? Or going to the dad's house?
I know that is far fetched, but it is an idea.
I know when my cousin sold their home, they had product placement decor set up in their home by the realtors.
Probably a crazy thought, but I wanted to share that thought anyway, because why take towels, pillows, clothing?

Unless of course, it was meant for someone to use and wear....

Just thoughts and ideas....

IMOO.

Wow, great questions, Treelights! I believe the bags with towels, clothes and pillows were found inside the house. In addition to the missing cell phone, there are two weapons that might be missing. I don't think there is any indication that the dad's house was up for sale, but the rest of the questions certainly make you think.

Wonder if the perps were searching through bagged items trying to find more hidden gold bars...or something that someone had told them was valuable?

I read also that there Might Be two weapons missing.
Did LE not see these weapons the first time they went to the house?
I wonder why it was written "Might".
Do friends or family Know he has a couple of weapons and that is how LE knows there are
a couple weapons somewhere, but LE isn't sure where the weapons were originally? So therefore,
they "Might" be missing?
And the missing cell phone.
Why take that? Wouldn't LE have looked at that phone earlier? Couldn't it be traced?
Maybe there are fingerprints on it, so someone felt that they Had to take it now?

Taking the chance on getting caught... you might be right... maybe whomever this is, was willing to take
the chance incase there were more bullion, or anything of numismatic value, perhaps?

IMOO.

Maybe whoever broke into the house did not pack the bags with clothes, towels and pillows. They might have been in a closet and the perps removed them when they were searching the place for valuables. I assume that LE did not see the bags when they first checked the house, but they were out in the open after the burglary. I have a bag of clothes in the closet in the guest bedroom right now that I'm planning to donate. Another possibility is that these things came from his father's house, so the perps searched the bags, and did not intend to steal them.

Wouldn't Greg's dogs go wild on someone unknown to them who broke into the house? I mean, they would bark loudly and perhaps attack I would think. If the dogs were a threat, wouldn't someone unknown to them kill them? I mean, if it allowed burglars to go undetected then I think they would shoot them or feed them poison or something like that.
Greg would be the only person they wouldn't be violent towards...except perhaps his mother or another well-known friend.

The break-in occurred after the dog was already removed from the house. The police removed it when they first checked the house earlier in the day. Just for clarification, Greg has one dog and Beverly has two.

Ok... I missed that. Grasping at straws now[emoji17]

Without any updates from LE, we're all sort of in the Straw Grasping category. I keep dreading the day I login here and Beverly and Gregory's thread is moved to the "located" forum. I have no reason at this point to believe they will be found safe. :(

I agree, there is very little chance at this point that they will be found alive. :( I have been purposely using the the current tense in my posts as a way to be optimistic. In my last post, I initially typed Greg had one dog, but I went back and changed it to has. My optimism is about gone.
