On Jan. 15, 2019, skeletal remains were found scattered in a wooded area off Bridgewater Lane, just a few miles from where Meaders’ vehicle was found.

Detectives spent two days collecting evidence from the area and determined the victim died from a gunshot wound to the head. Because of the condition of the remains, it took investigators about 10 months to identify Meaders.

Now that Meaders’ case has shifted from a missing person to a homicide, detectives are re-focused on finding out who gave her a ride from Liberty Park where she left her car.

Skull and bones found in woods near a Mooresville Food Lion at Lake Norman in January have been identified as the remains of a 29-year-old Charlotte woman who has been missing since 2016, Iredell County sheriff’s investigators said.

Anastasia Talisha Meaders, 29, died after being shot in the head, Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a news release Wednesday.

In October, the University of Northern Texas Center for Human Identification notified investigators that DNA from a tooth confirmed the victim was Anastasia Talisha “Star” Meaders, according to the release.

In July 2016, Meaders’ 2007 Impala was found abandoned at Liberty Park in Mooresville, a few miles from Bridgewater Lane, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators hope someone will identify the driver who gave Meaders’ killer a ride after leaving the her car in Liberty Park.

Details of Disappearance
Meaders was last seen at a hair salon on Sharon Amity Road in Charlotte, North Carolina on June 17, 2016. She was with Timothy Lavaun Crumitie at the time. She has never been heard from again. Her car was found that summer in a park near Mooresville, North Carolina, with possible body fluids inside it.

Crumitie, a minister, has a long criminal record, including convictions for insurance fraud, armed robbery and possession of stolen goods. He was charged in murder in 2005, but the case was later dropped for insufficient evidence. In August 2016, he was charged with murder, attempted murder, burglary, kidnapping, and possession of a firearm by a felon after he shot Michael Gretsinger and his fiancee, Kimberly Cherry.

Gretsinger was killed. Cherry, shot twice in the back of the head head, survived by playing dead. She is Meaders's mother, and she had dated Crumitie periodically before she started seeing Gretsinger. In February 2018, Crumitie was convicted of all charges and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

It's unclear whether he is a suspect in Meaders's case, as little information has been released about her disappearance. Her disappearance remains unsolved.

----

Looks like they may already have her murderer behind bars for life. If he did it, I hope he confesses as that could at least give her family some closure to finally know what happened.
MOO.

Timothy Lavaun Crumitie, 54, has now been charged with the murder of Anastasia “Star” Talisa Meaders, who was reported missing from Charlotte in August 2016. He was charged in 2016 with the attempted murder of her mother, Kimberly Cherry, and the murder of Cherry’s boyfriend, Michael Gretsinger, and is serving a life sentence.

very sad... there was another case like this where a man killed his wife, then killed his son in a foster home, then then killed his daughter as an adult! I believe in Maryland, but i cant recall the name.

Wow quite a character there. It seems like getting away with murder once can turn a lot of people into serial killers.

I believe you are thinking of Lawrence Banks. A real sicko. How the hell that man was not in prison is just beyond me.
