Rowna Fowler said she didn't know how to feel when she saw her daughter's clothes lying along the banks of Little Rockfish Creek on Thursday, she said.
"You just don't know," Fowler said through tears.
Two days earlier, her daughter, 15-year-old Danielle Locklear, walked away from a home on Trenchholm Lane.
Now a week after her disappearance, authorities said they're not sure if Danielle is alive.
Standing in front of a crowd of reporters Tuesday in the front yard of her parents' home on Trenchholm Lane, Fowler said her daughter had never run away before.
Acciardo said the search led officers to a campground off Interstate 95.
"Information has also been developed that suggests that Danielle may have been in the area of Lazy Acres RV park, which is near the Fayetteville Regional Airport, and that was later the same evening," Acciardo said.
Papa said her niece had been dropped off by a vehicle the day before she disappeared.
"The previous day, Monday, she had told me about some kids trying to get her to skip to go to a creek. She had just told me that she had walked back from the creek - when I pulled up here I saw her get dropped off in a vehicle," Papa said.
She hadn't seen the vehicle before, Papa said, but Danielle told her it was a friend from school.
