The sad thing is that you know this couldn't have been the first time. This just really gets away with me. I know so many couples who would be wonderful parents and they can't have children. Then you see so many of these walking uteruses and scrotums that contribute little to society other than having children that they care nothing for. I'll end the rant now.....

Capt. Steve Lillard said investigators believe Gibson, 36, left Devon Gibson in the trunk of the car while she went to work at the Mountain Trace Nursing Home in Sylva.

SHE WORKED AT A NURSING HOME????????????????
:waitasec: :waitasec: :waitasec: :waitasec: :waitasec:

A cause of death for the boy has not been determined, but heat is believed to be a factor in his death. Gibson is charged with voluntary manslaughter, second degree murder and two counts of child abuse. Her bond has been set at $100,000.

GOOD! This is just insane! Maybe she is insane!

What type of sick twisted sorry @$$ excuse for a human being would use their trunk as a babysitter.
And what method of torture did she employ to be sure he kept quiet in there?
I wonder what other abuse this poor kid had put up with for his short 8 years on earth with a vile creature like that for a "caregiver", (I can't use the Mother word here).

sorry.... I'm just so fed up with these people, I don't know what to say.

IMO this woman should be held without bond!!! She told a coworker what happened and then went home???? Hell, sounds to me like the kid is probably off better dead if he had a mother like that - sorry, but this kind of stuff really PISSES ME OFF!

I hope they do the same to her...She should be locked in a trunk...This poor kid...8yrs old? You know what really hurts me?...What was this poor child thinking right before he died...I think that everytime I see *advertiser censored* like this...

Mother whose son died of heat exposure acquitted in his death

SYLVA, N.C. (AP) — A mother whose 8-year-old son died of heat exposure in her car while she worked a double shift at nursing home was acquitted Monday of all charges related to his death.

A jury deliberated about four hours before returning the not guilty verdicts on the one-year anniversary of Devin Gibson's death. Michelle Gibson had been charged with second-degree murder and felony child abuse.

"My heart, my soul and my mind is grateful," Gibson said. "I want to go on and rest and let my son rest."

Prosecutors said Gibson occasionally kept Devin in the trunk of her 2001 Ford Escort.

Gibson denied locking Devin in the car trunk, but said she was responsible for his death. The nursing assistant told investigators she had no one to care for her son while she worked a 16-hour shift.

Assistant District Attorney Roy Wijewickrama said Gibson used her words -- not a lock or restraints -- to make Devin stay in the car.

"She told him to stay in the vehicle and use the diapers if he needed to go to the bathroom," Wijewickrama said. "And he did. He died listening to his mom."

The murder charge carried a sentence of up to 16 years.

WHAT IN GOD'S NAME WAS THIS JURY THINKING????? Can you think of anything more horrible than to be locked in a hot trunk for 16 hours a day with no bathroom, just locked in there? She's going free after this????

What in the hell!!! She didn't make him stay in there, he did so by his own will?? I have an 8 year old and she would never put up with being told to stay in the trunk. Isn't that verbal abuse?? What did she say that made him WANT to stay in that trunk? Jeana, is she getting any kind of a conviction at all??

I said a lot worse, so don't feel bad. Sometimes I just don't understand people. What this woman did to that little boy was bad enough. But for a jury to allow her to go unpunished makes me want to puke. This wasn't the first time she put him in the trunk. If she thought that was okay, and according to the jury it is, what else did she do to him during his short life???? I refuse to believe that everything was just A-okay at home and it was only when she locked him in the trunk that she was abusive. If he was so scared of her that he would remain in a hot-enough-to-kill-him vehicle simply because she told him to, she must have been a monster to him most of the time.

My daughter and I heard this on the news this morning while I was taking her to school. Now she is 13 and she turned to me and said "Mom did they just say that she locked her son in the trunk of a hot car for 16 hours, he died and she is found not guilty?" Now, if my 13 year old can see the absurdity of this, you would think a jury would. How can she be not guilty? I sure hope they allow her to have custody of any other children. What in the world has happened to parents today? So many of them are so twisted!

I don't know. At the very least, they should have found her guilty of felony child abuse. I'd like to know what the split was on the jury. Maybe there was just one hold out.

This is actually happened pretty close to here and this article does not tell the real story. I don't have time to go in to it now, but I was relieved that this woman was not convicted and being sent to prison. It's a horribly sad story..........I will try and add more later when I get home. Please don't judge a book by it's cover..................

I'll wait to hear more, but until then. . . . sorry, but I hate her.
