LUMBERTON - People who have been missing for years or even decades often slip away from the public's consciousness.

-----

Donald McIntosh, 37, was last seen by a friend who says she saw him getting his throat cut minutes before she ran from his 1633 Long Branch Drive home in Lumberton to get help. McIntosh has been missing since August 17, 2001. Investigators found blood on the porch and living room of his home, Patterson said. He said McIntosh is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs about 135 pounds and is a Jamaican black man.
Investigators think the assault was drug-related.
“We believe, after he was assaulted, he was put in a vehicle and taken somewhere,” Patterson said.
