''The Wilkes Sheriff’s Office was dispatched at 10:51 a.m. Thursday to where a landowner reported finding apparent human remains in a field off Barlow Hill Road in the Mulberry community, said Chief Deputy James Summers.
“Upon arrival, deputies secured the scene and identified partial human remains on the scene that are unidentified at this time,” said Summers.
The man who reported the discovery by phone said he had found a human skull in a grass field. The location was identified as 476 Barlow Hill Road.
Summers said the sheriff’s office and State Bureau of Investigation are continuing an active investigation of the case. Barlow Hill Road is a paved dead end road about a mile long off N.C. 18 North.''
