Apparently Mr. Callum was also a very talented photographer.

Article from January 2003 Photographer wants to preserve historic homes

The saddest scene Gaston Ward Callum II sees on his job happens to be one of the most frequent ones: a bulldozer razing a dilapidated antebellum home with shutters hanging askew, weeds and small trees growing through the floorboards and a century of history in its beams.

One way the Wilmington native immortalizes those haunting structures is photographing them before the bulldozers come. Another way is hoping that someone will see his pictures, buy the homes and save them.

Wilmington residents can see these buildings when Bellamy Mansion Museum hosts a free reception for Mr. Callum and the first exhibition of his architectural photographs, "Southern Architec-ture in the Balance circa 1723-1861," 2-4 p.m. Sunday at 503 Market St. The exhibit will remain on display through Feb. 15.

There is also some more information about Mr. Callum on an auctioning site.

25 GASTON WARD CALLUM II UNDWELLED - Feb 24, 2019 | Charleston Estate Auctions in SC

Callum was last seen by a family member Nov. 13 or 14 going for a run at the University of North Carolina Wilmington track. He was riding a mountain bike. Family members said Callum, who often showcased his photography, put all of his artwork in a storage unit in January 2010 after being evicted. In the storage unit he left behind a note on the back of a Michael Jordan photograph asking whoever found the photo to take care of it. He left all of his personal belongings behind including his wallet. The case remains under investigation.

I found this UID. It says estimated time of death was as early as 2011 and Mr. Callum was last seen in late 2010. Recon looks similar.

I submitted the potential match to Doe Network. Only problem is Gaston does not have a Doe Network case file that I could find. Hope that doesn't hinder the submission.

Hey all, I recently met a friend of a friend who was the one that came into possession of Callum's storage unit. I work with a media company in Durham, NC and thought this might be worth looking into and potentially raising some awareness.

I am looking for an old Facebook post regarding Callum's disappearance that was visible a couple of months ago, but it now looks like the link may be broken. In that post there was someone saying they were a private investigator that had looked into this case. I am trying to find out who that was and contact them. If anyone has any information, definitely let me know.

Here is the link to the post that I know can't access that had the comment from the PI:

What's up with the discrepancies with the missing date? Because in between those dates a man commit suicide in Savannah Georgia. He resembles Gaston too. Why he would be there I dunno. It was near a historic house that won an award that year maybe?
