Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a man whose body was found at a Princeton cemetery Thursday morning.

An employee of Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, off U.S. Highway 70 west of Goldsboro, discovered the body on the ground while arriving at work around 8:45 a.m., authorities said.

Investigators are treating the case as a homicide, but they have not been able to identify the man. They describe him as being approximately 25 to 40 years old, standing 5 feet 5 inches to 6 feet tall, with a slender build and reddish brown hair.

The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

Steven Lynn Barbour was sentenced to life in prison without parole Thursday after a jury in Wayne County Superior Court found him guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Jamie Lee Hinson...

Throughout the trial, Barbour steadfastly held the position that he had no involvement in killing Hinson, a man that he had known for nearly 15 years, but rather attempted to help him as Lanier beat him with a metal, police-style baton...

Assistant District Attorney Matt Delbridge... claimed Hinson's aggressive sexual advances toward Ms. Sparks in the parking lot of Dolls Palace, a Selma nightclub, nearly a month before Hinson was killed, began to spoil the relationship of the couple who had plans to marry and eventually drove Barbour into a murderous frame of mind.

Two defendants accused of being involved in the murder of Jamie Lee Hinson accepted plea deals this week in Wayne County Superior Court...

Joseph Lanier, 23, and Tara Sparks, 30, had also been charged with murder.

Lanier pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced by Judge Arnold Jones to 94-157 months in prison.

Ms. Sparks pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 38-55 months.
