Deputies searching for missing Robeson County woman last seen in September

42-year-old Jessica Lawrence, of St. Pauls, was reported missing Tuesday. The person who reported her missing said she was last seen leaving her job on Owen Drive in Fayetteville on Sept. 26.

She was believed to have gone back to her home on Coy Road in St. Pauls.

Lawrence is described as being 5′5″ and around 150 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. She was also last seen driving a grey 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a North Carolina license plate: HEK-9930.

Searches Monday were based on information and evidence found in her car, home, and near the road, Wilkins said.

Crews used drones and cadaver dogs to search the area near Hubbard Road. The brush was so dense in some areas that they had to cut through with machetes.

Wilkins said crews also searched several ponds, some chest-deep.

“The searching of these specific areas is the result of information and evidence obtained during the investigation,” Robeson County officials said in a statement Monday.

Her boyfriend was arrested. A missing North Carolina woman's boyfriend was arrested driving her Jeep The charge "failure to report a change in address by sex offender" but the bond is a million and a half according to the MSM article. That's WAY too high in my opinion if that is the only charge as typically where I have lived the standard bond for a Class 6 felony is no more than $25,000. I think there is more that LE is not releasing at this time.

Just now seeing this - I grew up in this county many years ago when it was a nice place to live. A lot has happened to make this area a high-crime and tuff place to live. The typical decline of many small towns where factories left the area and young teens had very little opportunities to find work without education beyond high school, or less than a high school diploma.
Please excuse if this is a repeat -- it's from Raleigh, NC, news:

Rowland, N.C. — A body was found in the woods along Highway 710 in Robeson County on Monday as crews conducted an investigation after finding belongings of a missing woman in that area.

Jessica Lawrence, a 42-year-old mother of three who worked at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, has been missing for weeks. She was last seen at her home in St. Pauls on Sept. 26 when a probation officer stopped by to see her boyfriend.

After discovering the body, Sheriff Burnis Wilkins contacted Lawrence's parents to request her dental records to help determine whether or not the body belongs to her.
[...]
Foul play is suspected in her disappearance, after her boyfriend Michael Brayboy, a known sex offender, was arrested during a traffic stop while driving her vehicle on Oct. 14 in Red Springs.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around her being in a relationship with that man. o_O
You said it, @LoveyG - Brayboy has a long record with the NC Dept of Public Safety, his last offense was First Degree Rape and Sexual Offense 1st Degree, for which he got a 23-28 year sentence. He was released in July, 2020, and is still on parole.
I can't imagine why she would be associated with him, JMHO.

He has quite a record, going back to drug offenses in 1996, for which he got probation.

Here is a link to his DPS record:

He has quite a conviction record in NC, and he was driving her car and she wasn't in it. Both of those factors probably enabled LE to push for a high bail amount.
And yes, there certainly could be factors that we don't yet know.
Hoping the dental records and DNA will be examined and a determination made asap. I'm sure she has relatives and friends who are worried about her.

The latest local news from Raleigh, NC, but nothing new. Hoping the local LE doesn't let this one go cold -- their track record on solving cases such as this (women found dead) hasn't been great -- but they do have a small number of officers, etc.
Budgets are tight in this poor county.
So glad they do have her boyfriend in local lockup.
Since the M.E. has the found body and something to compare DNA and dental, let's hope the yea or nay on a match is determined and reported soon.

I guess most of us kind of knew we'd get bad news that it was her body that would be found. Just glad that it happened soon.
Such a shame. Not lookin' good for her boyfriend, Brayboy, IMO. He probably is or will be in more trouble soon.
Hoping there is some solid evidence to prove that he did it. If he did it.
