•dark brown hair and brown eyes
•last seen wearing blue jeans, a black T-shirt with three basketball players on it and red tennis shoes.

•last seen Tuesday around 5 p.m. on St. Anna Road in Pembroke with a friend.
•was last in communication with a family member via phone around 9 p.m.

Robeson County Sheriff’s Office asks for public’s help in finding missing Maxton man


The friend that Hunt was last seen with was located around 10 p.m. after being involved in a vehicle crash, deputies say.

That crash happened in the area of Hwy 74 and Selma Road in Lumberton.

On Wednesday, April 22, 2020, Justin Cody Hunt, 30, of Maxton was reported missing. Hunt was last seen on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 around 5:00 pm on St. Anna Rd., Pembroke with a friend. Hunt was last in communication with a family via phone around 9 pm. The friend that Hunt was last seen with was located around 10 pm after being involved in a vehicle wreck. The wreck occurred in the area of Hwy 74 and Selma Rd., Lumberton. Hunt weighs around 185 pounds and is about 5’10” in height. Hunt has dark brown hair and brown eyes. Hunt was last seen wearing blue jeans, black t-shirt with three basketball players on it and red tennis shoes.

Bodies thrown from cars involved in accidents don't travel all that far. He would likely have been found as investigators explored the site.

Justin shares a married last name with Gannon Stauch's step monster, who is currently in jail charged with his murder. Common family members are also on his facebook page and this is her hometown.

I wish LE would give more details. I wonder why they mentioned the friend being in an accident.

A 19-year-old was arrested Friday for murder, arson, and a litany of other charges in connection with the death of Justin Cody Hunt.
Austin Ransom is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree arson, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and second-degree burglary. He was given no bond for the murder charge and $2 million for the others.

Haven’t seen any confirmation that this was related to the arrest, but one of the charges is arson. IMO a strong possibility.

IMHO the friend in the accident isn’t the man who was arrested. But this is my opinion only. By the way, there are interesting comments under the sheriff’s posts. MOO
