03/02/2018 - Martha Hargett 51yro of Shelby/Cleveland County, NC, was Killed by her Daughter, Melinda Ann Hargett, 29yro
In the early hours of Friday, 03/02/2018, at 2014 Stony Point Road, Lot 2A, in Cleveland County, NC, Martha Hargett age 51, was killed by her daughter, Melinda Ann Hargett age 29, during calls multiple calls to 911s Emergency Operator, according to People/Crime, and the Shelby Star, which initially published the story.
In a matter of eight minutes, a woman became unhinged and allegedly used a meat cleaver to kill her mother.
A calm Martha Hargett spoke to a 911 operator at 3:37 a.m. Friday, after her daughter, Melinda, called to say she wanted to be a boy and needed EMS.(3)
Police say a woman killed her mother with a meat cleaver before dawn Friday.
Deputies were already on the way to the home when a frantic 911 call came in to dispatchers.
In the call, Martha Hargett said, Shes trying to kill me, according to Captain Jon Wright with the Cleveland County Sheriffs Office. (1)
Minutes later, the body of 51-year-old Martha Hargett was found outside her home, covered in blood, according to another 911 call by a neighbor.
Melinda Hargett, Marthas 29-year-old daughter, was quickly taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, according to the Cleveland County, North Carolina, Sheriffs Office.(6)
