PLATTSMOUTH – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is hoping the eyes and the ears of the public can provide leads into the disappearance of 48-year-old Amber Tjaden of Weeping Water.
Her father, former Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle, said the family is working with the sheriff’s office to find the woman who has not been heard from since last Wednesday.
Cpt. Dave Lamprecht of the sheriff’s office says investigators have no idea where Tjaden might be. He said the more people who are looking for her and her black, SUV-style Jaguar, the better.
He said investigators tried following the navigation system equipped with the Jaguar, but said her OnStar service had not been activated.
A subpoena of her bank accounts have not shown any activity and Cpt. Lamprecht says her phone must be shut off because searchers are not getting any pings.
Tjaden, a former Omaha Public Schools teacher who has been heading the Gateway to College program at Metro Community College, has been working from home during portions of the pandemic.
Cpt. Lamprecht said her husband, Matthew Tjaden, tells authorities they had argued the day prior, but he does not know where she might have traveled when she left their residence in rural Weeping Water.
Her father said Tuesday the family is hoping someone will see her vehicle. The license plates on the black, 2019 Jaguar, Model F-Pace, are 20-T638.
Meanwhile, Tjaden's husband, 38-year-old Matthew Tjaden, was released from custody.
Cpt. Lamprecht said he was arrested due to uncooperative behavior with the missing person investigation.
Authorities say they went to the residence for a welfare check and noticed Mr. Tjaden pulling up in his pickup. Deputies say they tried to stop the vehicle, but Tjaden did not immediately stop. A low-speed pursuit went for a couple of miles. Investigators say he became agitated at their questions and attempted to leave with two minor children.
Tjaden is the daughter of former Omaha mayor Jim Suttle, who served in office from 2009 to 2013. She had previously for two protection orders against her husband in 2015, one in Douglas County and one in Cass County.
If the 2019 Black Jaguar is seen, please report the incident to law enforcement authorities immediately. Any information can be received at the Cass County Sheriff Office, (402) 296-9370, or contact Investigator Tony Hemmer.
