With the popularity of true crime still surging, I really wish an investigative journalist or podcast would cover Jason's case. Someone like that could potentially uncover a lot about the case - or at least bring more attention to it.

I wonder if it would be worthwhile to write to some popular podcasts and ask them to look at Jason's disappearance. Has anyone tried something like that? Maybe if a few of us did it, that could sway them?

We had talked about walking though my old neighborhood with a camera, but I realized it would be much easier to do the same with Google Street view.

I made very armature YouTube video of how the kids would walk from my street to Benson Highschool and how I assume Jason would do the same.

You can probably use that information to roam around virtually yourself. There is not a lot to see, but that's the issue with this case. A person should not go missing on a 15 minute walk in broad daylight.

You might, at least, get a feel for the neighborhood.

I will apologize up front. I get lost after 15 years of not living there. I take you down a couple routes to the school, but there could be other's. I got 48th Street and Ave mixed up as well as Military and Maple.

There are a couple smaller podcasts that have done his case in recent years. Unfound Podcast is one. The problem with Jason's case is that there isn't a whole lot of content to explore for creators. People like to talk about cases with evidence, POIs, recent developments, etc., but with Jason's case there's none of that. He was here one second and gone the next. There really isn't much to fill a lot of time on, and unfortunately there hasn't been any movement in 20 years.

What I would really, really like to see is a cold case investigative team taking on this case and producing a tv segment about it afterwards. Perhaps they could get details on all the neighbours enroute to Jason's school as a main form of enquiry. I wonder if there is somewhere we could request that to be looked at.

But even still, it just seems so odd that in a split second, some neighbor would see him walking for the first time in awhile and then suddenly decide to lure him and kill him. Personally I still think that he was making a stop along the way. Could definitely have been someone right on the route, but I think it was slightly more premeditated than just seeing him walking and abducting him.

Yes, I think that makes total sense.

Great video, studebkr! I appreciate the audio commentary since you are the one on this board who would have known the neighborhood best.

Side note: I went to Monroe too. Your son and I were probably there around the same time :)

Most of the podcasts that cover Jason just regurgitate publicly known facts about the case. Unfound is the only one that uncovers any new information, and that's because he interviews Jason's mom. They all come off a bit amateurish though imo. What this case needs is someone with a proper investigative and research background who can dig up new details & with respectability so former coworkers/friends/witnesses would feel comfortable talking to them. I'd give a lot to see APM cover this case.

But you are probably right that there's just not enough details to make that worth their while. One can wish though!

I wonder if there's anything at all investigators have withheld from the public concerning the case.. even if it's something small or something they consider insignificant? I'm guessing not as it has been over two decades with no leads. They probably need all the help they can get. Is the case still active (as in, is it still being looked at?).

Are you thinking along the lines of Unsolved Mysteries? They have a story submission form: Submit Your Very Own Mystery to Unsolved Mysteries
What if we all bombard them with submissions about Jason?

Edit: I just submitted my form! It only took me 5 minutes. I'm sure they get thousands of submissions, but if more of us do it, that might make them look more closely at Jason.

Thanks for the link. I just submitted one for Jason as well!

It makes you wonder what investigators could possibly uncover. As far as we know, there have never been any persons of interest. The Jolkowskis apparently had little to offer in terms of possible leads. It is 20 years later and many people will have moved on or simply can't remember events that day. It's quite scary when you think this happened a few months pre-9/11. When you use that as a milestone, Jason's disappearance feels like a lifetime ago.

I don't know why one's mind immediately goes to a sinister theory. His co-workers wouldn't have known which time he was walking, how long it would take him ( 10 min? 20 min? ) or which route he was using. If a neighbor planned something they'd have known there could be witnesses ( it was trash day after all, people would have been outside more to remove the trash, anyone could have been staring out a window ). And if someone lured him into a car, how could they have controlled him while they were driving? I think it's possible the neighborhood was so quiet , that someone came speeding around a corner totally not expecting to see a pedestrian, and maybe injured him with the car. Witnesses might have seen something and not linked it up with his disappearance, but maybe the car blocked him from their view if he lay in the street ( the perp could even have parked their car in a way to hide him from street view ). I think because Jason was a handsome young man there is this strong theory he was the victim of a sexual predator who was watching through a window daily...but really his good looks might have had nothing to do with it. The case is so odd so I think the explanation was probably odd too.

I would like to see a cold case team thoroughly investigate Jason's disappearance. For one thing, a look at all of the local sexual predators who lived on various routes that Jason could've taken to the school. I believe there were a number of them.

The thing is, most RSOs have committed crimes against young children. It's not like Jason looked young for his age or was underdeveloped. They would have to be pretty ballsy to target a 6 foot grown man. Not ruling anything out, but I have a sneaky feeling the unsub in this case wouldn't have been on any police radar.

Then again, there are days when I don't know what the hell to think about this case. It's so bewildering.
