Despite warnings from their father and several interviews with police, a mother in the Netherlands has been able to abduct her children and take them to war-torn Syria.
The children's father had warned police his wife, who is Chechen, planned to abduct them, but when interviewed she denied it. Now Prosecutor Bart den Hartigh says it's impossible to recover the children, Lucas and Aysha, because 'the Netherlands has no legal relationship with Syria and the woman and children are in a war zone'.

Two Dutch children have been abducted by their mother and taken to the ISIL-held city of Raqqa in Syria, the Dutch prosecution's office has confirmed.
The children's 32-year-old mother took the boy and girl, aged 7 and 8, from their hometown of Maastricht in southern Netherlands in October, after which Dutch police rang a major alert, public broadcaster NOS reported on Monday.
