NEW for Today Sept 4 What's Happening?
Please use this thread ONLY to discuss any NEW information that comes out or is happening today. Maybe that will help everyone to stay abreast! If it needs its own thread then use one but if it is just short updates, this would be a great place for it! Hope this helps for it would be a great place to run to get updated fast! So far we have LP questioning paternity of Caylee and Casey will be in court today on new charges. I wonder what else the day will bring.

Casey won't go before a judge today
8:23 a.m. Casey Anthony will not appear in court this morning at the Orange County Jail.

Overnight, Anthony's bail was paid on all charges, except the child neglect charge that carries a more than $500,000 bond.


Because the child neglect charge has not been paid, Anthony will remain behind bars, jail spokesman Allen Moore said.

Anthony's parents were scheduled to visit her this morning, but it was cancelled because she was supposed to appear in court. That visit has been rescheduled for Friday morning.

Her brother, Lee Anthony, will visit with her on Saturday.

8:58 a.m. Casey Anthony will not appear in court this morning at the Orange County Jail because a bonding agency paid her bail.
MacDonald Bail Bonds paid Anthony's $2,500 bail on the new charges at 2:05 a.m., jail records show. However, she remains behind bars on charges of child neglect and filing false reports to law-enforcement. Those charges carry a bond of $500,200.
 
New for today (revised and bumped up):

1. Casey posted bond (3K) at 2 am this morning for the theft related charges but not for the child neglect charges, which will require her to obtain $50,2000 (LP revoked that bond last week). Cite So to those wondering...no she is not getting out of jail unless and until the higher amount is posted. Interestingly, the press is reporting that Casey's attorney Jose Baez was not aware that bond had been posted (for the additional theft related charges). "When he arrived at the Orange County Jail Thursday morning to assist in Casey's initial appearance, he was informed of the situation". Cite . No indication why he didn't think it was a "good move" to post the 3K bond OR why he didn't even know about the posting of it.

2. Baez met with Casey's parents until after midnight Wednesday. See cite above. Nothing on what was said.

3. Cindy and George were going to meet with Casey via video visitation this morning (Thursday morning) but canceled because Casey had a court appearance this morning (now cancelled - see number 3 below); they are postponing their video visit to Friday morning. Cite Lee is scheduled to visit Casey via video visitation on 1 pm on Saturday. Cite Now that the court appearance is canceled, no word yet on re-rescheduling visits.

4. There had been a court appearance scheduled today for Casey and the webcam is already on the courthouse: Webcam here . The purpose of the court hearing was this: the hearing is an arraignment on new charges against Casey. Prosecutors have added additional check fraud and theft charges. Cite . However, press is reporting that the hearing in court is canceled because Casey posted bail on the NEW theft charges already. Cite

5. LP was interviewed last night on Fox News. LP says Caylee is probably dead and insists it was an “accident” because “all of Caylee’s friends say she’d never hurt the girl.” (This is disappointing because EVERYONE says of a murderer, including Ted Bundy, that he/she would “never” hurt so and so” and that they "seemed like such a nice person".) On Monday, LP made an offer (communicated to Baez – Casey’s attorney) that LP would post the 50.2K bail for Casey to get out of jail if Casey agreed to tell investigators where Caylee’s body is.

<<Leonard Padilla the California bounty hunter who helped secure the release of Casey Anthony, the mother of missing toddler Caylee Anthony, several weeks ago said he&#8217;s willing to get her bond reinstated.

Reached by phone in California Wednesday, Padilla said that he has made that offer to the Anthony family, her attorney and asked that it be relayed to her in jail.

The condition for the release according to Padilla is that Casey has to tell investigators where the body of her little girl is. If Casey complies and cooperates with investigators, Padilla said he would get the bond reposted so Casey could remain free while she awaits trial.>>

Can you give us any reasonable explanation as to why bond was posted on the lessor charges when there is no indication that bond could be met for the more serious charge?

I hate to ask a dumb question, but why would someone pay her bail on the lesser charges when she can not be released if the $52,000 is still left unpaid? Are there legal strategies that I am missing?

Let's say you are busted for the check charges. You can't make bond and serve four months in jail before you are sentenced. The judge sentences you to a year in jail but you only have to do eight months, because you get four months TIME SERVED. Credit for time served already.

If you are bonded on a charge, your time served clock stops. In other words once you are sentenced. You do the full year.

The bondsman that bonded her on the "tiny" charges knew she wasn't getting out on the 500,000 grand charge. He just wanted to make sure once she is sentenced, she gets the most possible time in jail. So, when she is sentenced for the tiny charges, she won't get any time served for those charges.

It's cheap advertising and a way of saying..."yeah, we don't like you either Casey Anthony."

The bail was probably paid by G&C so cindy could call LP and beg for his help. Stick to your guns LP..let mommy sit and rot like she did to the little angel. JMO
