EXETER, N.H. —
Police are trying track down a pair of women whose families say they have intellectually disabilities.

At the request of the Exeter Police Department, New Hampshire State Police issued missing vulnerable adult alerts early Wednesday morning for Kimberly Pushard, 51, and Angela Bussell, 50.

They were reported missing by police in Topsham, Maine, around 12:30 a.m.

New Hampshire State Police said the two were driving in a red Jeep Compass with Maine registration 1960VC near the New Hampshire-Maine border during the afternoon Tuesday when they were unable to find their way home.

They said Pushard's phone was last pinged in the Candia area.

Pushard, the driver of the Jeep, is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 164 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes.

Bussell, who is Pushard’s passenger, is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs 213 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes.

Police said both Pushard and Bussell are easily disoriented, have trouble processing information and could be confused by directions.

Anyone with information is asked to call Exeter police at 603-772-1212.

According to police, Pushard and Bussell were reportedly driving around the border of Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire Tuesday afternoon and were unable to find their way home to Topsham, Maine.

Pushard was driving her red 2012 Jeep Compass with Maine registration 1960VC with Bussell as a passenger in the vehicle.

On Tuesday evening, Pushard and Bussell talked to the Exeter Police Department as well as several other New Hampshire law enforcement agencies who all tried to give them proper directions to return home but were unable to do so.

Pushard’s cell phone was last pinged in the Candia, New Hampshire and Raymond, New Hampshire area, but it is now powered off, according to police.

According to their families, Pushard and Bussell are intellectually disabled, easily disoriented, have trouble processing information, and are prone to being confused by directions.

If you see Pushard and Bussell, please notify Exeter Police Department at (603)772-1212.

Topsham Police Department issued an update at 6:55 PM today indicating that the two ladies were in Springfield, Maine as of 10:00 AM this morning. Press release attached.

If that's the case, they've overshot home by about 173 miles and are approaching the Canadian border.

Well, this is .....sad. I wish they had a phone charger and I hope someone spots their Jeep or they run into a good Samaritan. It's been a mild winter, but weather is rolling in.

This is interesting. They have been all over the place. Topsham Maine isn’t anywhere near the NH border, Candia is close to Manchester NH. I had to google Springfield Maine. Wow, it up there, way way beyond Bangor. This is scary. Supposedly not charging phones or using GPS. I’m sorry to be the jerk here, but I have to wonder why on earth they have licenses if they do, and why they are off together. I understand they are adults and there are different levels of intellectual disabilities but I think after this things may be reevaluated. If two of them can’t get home, that is terrifying. I just think of people I know that sound like this description who definitely cannot and do not drive.

Right, although maybe not the norm, it would be great if they could get a police escort home or a tow home or something, as far as it may be. They definitely need help.

I was surprised at the various locations as well. I have wondered if Springfiend might actually be Springvale...
we will see.

I wonder whether the law enforcement agencies were communicating with each other at the time, or if they realized the ladies had had multiple LE contacts only after they were reported missing. If LE was aware of multiple contacts, IMO they should have escorted them home.

This. But also the hope for a good Samaritan thing. These sort of cases make me sad that we really don't take care of strangers the way we did not so very long ago - neither regular people nor civil servants. I hope that these two are lucky but I hope even more that the world becomes a more loving place.

Topsham police say they were at an Irving gas station in Springfield, Maine as of 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Topsham Police say the women left home on Tuesday afternoon, headed for the Maine Mall. They apparently got lost and traveled to Massachusetts before calling family members at 5:00 that afternoon. Their family gave them directions to get home and believed that they would be along. But that evening, they contacted the Exeter New Hampshire Dispatch Center, requesting directions, but the call was dropped. The women then contacted a New Hampshire State Trooper, who directed them to I-95 North. Police say the latest information puts the women in Springfield, Maine at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. At last report, they remain missing and police are hopeful the public will keep an eye out for their Red Jeep Compass. It's believed their cellphones have now run out of juice.

I don't think so, as the press release update indicates that Northern Maine law enforcement agencies were being updated, so it seems like they really got way up there. I know the weather was not good up there last night and it's a much more rural part of the state, so I was really hoping to hear this morning that they had been located safely. :(

Missing woman Kimberly Pushard at gas station.

Police released a video of one of the two missing Maine women asking for directions at a gas station.

Relatives reported the two had been trying drive to the Maine Mall.

The released security footage shows Kimberly Pushard speaking with a clerk at the gas station in Springfield around 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

Kimberly Pushard and her friend Angela Bussell are now on their fourth day of being lost.

“I just feel like hopping in my car and picking her up,” mother Patsy Pushard said. “And I don’t know where she is.”

Patsy Pushard says the last time she heard from her daughter was Tuesday evening.

“And I said, ‘Please put it on speaker phone,’ so I could talk to her,” Patsy Pushard said. “’Kimmy, how are you doing, honey?’ She says, ‘I’m confused and I’m crying right now.'”

I'm just distraught that no one has reported seeing them in over 48 hours at this point. If they ran out of gas on some remote road in these freezing temperatures with no supplies, I don't like to think how this could end up. :(

What a tough situation. It's 17 degrees right now in Candia NH where Kimberly's phone last pinged. I'm surprised their car has not been spotted. I would hope that LE in NH and ME are looking hard.

Hagan said Friday that both women take medication for high blood pressure and they don't have their medication with them. He said the families of both women are very concerned. When asked if the women have been known to go on trips before, he said no.

They reportedly bought about $25 in gas and asked the gas station clerk for directions back to Interstate 95 south

If they had made it back to I-95 South, one would assume they would have been spotted by now as they'd be heading right for Orono and Bangor. I hope they didn't accidentally get back on I-95 North and keep heading up into even more remote parts of the state. It must all be extra confusing in the snow. :(

I was thinking this too - and if they didn’t go south but went north instead wouldn’t they have hit Canada by now, and been stopped at the border? I’m sure the border checks have been notified at this point but either direction on 95 should have gotten them to civilization by now.

I agree, pretty much any direction they ended up heading should have brought them to either civilization or the border. I know their phones have been dead for a while, but I can't imagine why they haven't stopped somewhere to ask for help or a phone or something at this point. It makes me concerned that they may have gone off the road somewhere remote and no one has spotted them yet. :(
