Regarding the "pimp" friend; None of the AC Prostitutes murdered in 2006 had pimps, but it isn't unlike a pimp to kill a noncompliant *advertiser censored* that won't join his stable. I really hope LE gives Greg Alston a serious look, as well as any of his associates.

It could be mission oriented killings or your garden variety sexually motivated killings; at some point, for the morally conflicted, the two often converge. Gary Ridgeway, AKA, The Green River Killer, considered himself a devout man who was ridding the world of undesirables. There have been many more of his ilk, though I suspect, most of them are justifying their actions to hide their perversions.

He does mention the passing of Tara on Jan 7, and as to her timeline one article on Tara has her at a casino I think, in late Nov. spotted by a family friend. I wonder if that's good info that's been corroborated.

Typical Atlantic County investigation; no new news released since the 19th. They can't seem to walk the line between reaching out for help from the public or releasing too much information to damage their case.. This is how cold cases are born.

I'm not overly optimistic that the ball won't be dropped again. They already committed countless blunders with the 4 West AC slayings. That would have been solved in days, had they just sat on the body dump site and waited for the killer(s) to return to it.

This isn't just going to stop. If anything, it will escalate. There is also the possibility that the area will get a reputation as the place to go to get away with murdering young women.

Right now there's a set victimology of at risk women involved in drugs and/or prostitution, but it only requires the slightest variable for the next death to be that of a casino worker getting off of a graveyard shift, a soccer mom on a girl's night out, a wandering tourist, or even a child (non-preferential victim of opportunity.)

Maybe then, someone will care.......

As a guy who was born and raised in South Jersey (a hop, skip, and jump from all of these body dumps,) I take this damn personal.

I was back in my old stomping grounds for the weekend and driving at dusk through Pleasantville, Egg Harbor, Galloway Township, and West Atlantic City has never seemed more dicey. I can only imagine what was going on in the hours that I was safely tucked away in my hotel room.

It's still nothing but exits and on-ramps. Lots of road construction going on and it's pitch dark once the sun sets. Leads me to believe that whoever is killing girls there, is as familiar with the dump sites in the day as he is in the night. At least he would have to be in the case of Tara Rogers-Alicea. That Shore Mall traffic area is crazy.

I am almost willing to say that Tara's murder is connected to the 4 prostitutes in West AC. The murder and the dump site fits the profile well, in that she was dumped in an area that could have easily been revisited and reused, had it not been discovered.

Driving around last night, I am beginning to think that Joyce may have been picked up and dumped on the side of the road by a trucker. Lots of truck stops in that area. If she was thrown from a cab, could explain massive bruising. It's hard to say for sure without more info. It's just a hunch I'm working on.

Well, the person <modsnip> who posted to her facebook account the day before she was found certainly seems suspicious to me. His facebook activity changed drastically on February 14 with much more activity, and without a mention of her. Since he knew both victims, he may be coincidentally in the same circle of friends, but he seems a little nervous.

Originally I was thinking something completely different. There is a cult in the area, and I thought it may be connected. There is a business 2 miles down the road that may be associated with it due to it's name, so I drove down there to take a look at it and where the body was found. What struck me as odd was the location is on a slight curve, but there are plenty of other places that would have been better, as the person that put it there was taking a big chance of someone coming by, even if it was possibly late at night, as people tend to speed in that area. There is a dirt road that branches out and stops near the AC expressway and ends which would have been much better. Due to being very close to mile marker 24, perhaps there was some symbolism intended. With 2 murders recently, and 4 in 2006 perhaps that was supposed to imply it was related. I can not think of any other reason the number 24 could imply anything.

Thanks for the observations Billy and welcome to the forums. From what I gather she was found on Weymouth rd. somewhere between Black Horse pike and the Atlantic City expy. I haven't been able to narrow down mile marker 24. Would that be north or south of the blueberry company and how far from it? Am I even close?

one of the owners of Atlantic Blueberry Company, located just a few miles from where the body was found, and says he and his cousin saw what looked like a dummy or a mannequin about 15 feet off the side of the road. Galletta said his cousin was driving near mile marker 24 when he saw the body. "It wasn't in the woods, it was right there in plain sight," he explained.

I found mm23 on google street view, its almost right across the road from the bb company and mm24 is north of there in a curve as Billy said. so I'm thinking she was found north of the company and the large fields they have there. I wonder on what side of the road she was on.

I don't have much info about the cult, but it is rather large. I did a search for any online presence, and "Satans Lair" was listed on Foursquare just off of the expressway, but that may be just a couple of kids fooling around. They are not likely to advertise, so I searched under innocent sounding pseudonyms. Under "Black Rose" came 3 hits in NJ; a band, a tattoo parlor in Williamstown, and a leather shop on the same road as the body, 2 miles away which seemed rather coincidental to me. I have no idea if it is associated, but look up "Children of the Black Rose" for more info.

Concerning the 4 AC prostitute slayings and the odd way they were posed, I could see a potential occult angle. That said, death by asphyxiation doesn't exactly scream ritual sacrifice. The shedding of blood and knife penetration is very significant in ritual sacrifice. I'll try to research when real life affords me the opportunity, but I encourage the rest of you to check this hidden world out.

This is already feeling like a cold case. Zero media updates since her funeral service.
I sat in that same funeral parlor less than a week later and wouldn't be shocked to hear that her killer stopped in to "pay his respects."

I understand keeping the investigative cards close to one's vest, but at some point, lack of public disclosure can be detrimental to a case.

I wish and hope they find the guy, it feels like the police aren't doing anything...they never contact me about anything and I morn the death of my sister and hope she's in heaven looking down. And just as a side not Joyce was living in the motels off the black horse pike right in front of where the 4 body's were found and she had broken ribs and other broken bones, I got to see her before she was cremated, the killer beat her and broke her jaw. A real crazy pyscho that needs to be found before I find him or my family, I will not risk going to jail for the rest of my life by killing him but I'm not afraid to beat him or have him beaten to the last inch of his life and let him live with his guilt n consequences, I'll gladly admit to the police it was me or my family. My condolences to you, thank you for joining the forums. So police aren't keeping family informed, that is terrible. I hope it doesn't go to a cold case. Was your sister afraid of anyone or worried about someone she knew?

Thanks for joining and help us with additional information about your dear sister and her horrible murder. You and your family is in my prayers.

The info that Joyce lived in a motel "off the black horse pike right in front of where the 4 body's were found" is indeed interesting, do you know the name of the motel?

I have a POI (person of intererest) in the case of the 4 woman found murdered (strangled, don´t know for sure if they were beaten), in Atlantic City, behind the Golden Key Motel back in Nov 20, 2006.

My POI is closely connected to one of those 4 murdered woman, and I also have him as a POI in the Long Island serial killer case (he has a lot of friends and family on Long Island as well as in Atlantic City, he even lived in Atlantic City for a while).

Looking forward to, possibly, more information from you.

Let me start by saying I am sorry for your loss. You and yours are in my thoughts.
Being from South Jersey, myself, I am extremely disappointed in the lack of coverage/updates of your sister's murder, as well as that of. Tara Rogers-Alicea's.

Since the day of Joyce's service, this has felt like a cold case to me.
know that we all want justice for her and every other victim of such crimes.
We obsess over details, hoping that one little grain of sand removed could be the one that uncovers what is buried beneath.

If you wouldn't mind, could you elaborate a little on the circumstances surrounding her death?

Did she have plans that night or did she keep you all in the dark about her comings and goings?

Did she have a relapse? I noticed that she had some drug problems that she was working on. I also noticed that you mentioned that she was living out near the Pike; an area noted for drug and prostitution. I'm asking without judgement, I just want to be sure that she completely fits the victim profiles of the other murder victims.

Take care of yourself, bud... and have faith that your sister will have justice. We would just like it sooner than later.

'm new here and I'd like to offer my condolences as well. Nobody deserves to be treated the way this young lady was.

Anything that I have to contribute to this discussion is my opinion and nothing more. I don't believe that the police are currently at liberty to discuss the details of this, or any other related cases, with the media, family members or the community at large. Their burden of proof is quite high and they have one chance at making a case against this killer and getting a conviction.

We are all familiar with the high-profile 2006 case and how it remains unsolved 8 years later. A serial killer got away with it back then and the last thing anyone needs, especially the police, is to have the same guy go on another killing rampage. But recent events indicate that that possibility may be what's happening. Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain acknowledged as much with his statement: &#8220;It&#8217;s something we&#8217;re exploring,&#8221; McClain said. &#8220;We&#8217;d be foolish not to. But we&#8217;re exploring this possibility. At present time it remains just a possibility.&#8221;

That statement was made before Ms. Vanderhoff's untimely demise. However, after Feb 14th, 2014 the police became extremely tight-lipped about this case. Undoubtedly, with this latest discovery, they realized that the possibility that Mr. McClain had eluded to earlier may have just become closer to a frightening reality. Sometimes, what the authorities don't say speaks volumes.

The police have every reason to be cautious about releasing any information to the public. For obvious reasons, they don't want to tip the killer's hand. They don't want to induce a panic in the community. But they also want to catch this guy to get payback for making them look incompetent with the 2006 investigation. The bar has been raised a notch or two with this latest killing.

Looking at the location and manner in which Ms. Vanderhoff's body was discovered, one cannot help but get the impression that this killer is telling the world that he is proud of what he has done and that there is nothing anyone can do about it. He left her body in plain view on the side of a road making no attempt, whatsoever, to hide her.

That arrogance is not lost on the Investigators. The question is: Are they up to the task?

It's very difficult to catch a serial killer and the burden of proof required to secure a conviction has to be beyond a reasonable doubt. Hopefully the task force that was assembled in 2006 will be refunded and re-assembled. Investigators that worked the case back then need to be consulted. The FBI needs to be brought on board (if they haven't already). All leads, past and present, need to be fully investigated.

Hopefully, The Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce won't have any input into the investigation. We all know the Casinos run AC and that many jobs are dependent on the employment that they provide. But sweeping these crimes under the carpet would be the worst thing anyone could do. Investigators, working with the Casinos, need to focus on how positive of an image it would reflect on everyone if this killer is finally captured and brought to justice.

This killer is going to kill again, regardless. He has to, it's hard-wired into his DNA. This investigation needs to be just as determined in it's efforts to stop him. I, for one, wish them the best of luck this time.

If this young lady was advertising her services then the connection may be via an ooVoo video/chat application. On May 19th, 2012 she posted three times that she could be contacted that way. Similar to skype, both end users need to have accounts.

One does not need to have a Facebook account to use ooVoo but Facebook friends can be synced into an ooVoo account. Those that are synced up will have accounts on both social networks.

October 19th, 2013 she appears to be making another attempt at kicking her addiction and is getting encouragement from family and friends. A long cold winter has taken it's toll. Feb 13, 2014 she's thinking about throwing in the towel. More encouragement from family and friends.

She changes her profile picture, looks healthy but sad, lonely. She's vulnerable. If her killer contacts her via ooVoo the call will not be reflected in her phone account. But it should be permanently registered with ooVoo. Even if her phone has been stolen, ooVoo's servers should still have a record.

Hopefully this angle has been investigated.
