It is so clear that his brother is confused and undone by this heinous act. What his ramble does do is to create a picture of a man who came from adversity but has lived his life doing whatever he wanted. He was bolstered by the success he had and was given lots of goodies by casinos. I wish he would stop giving interviews as well.
Idk, but, I think he doth protest too much. I could be very, very, wrong, but I think that he knows a little more than he's letting on. He's was very focused on his brother being a "regular" guy, in the beginning, who he rarely ever saw or had contact with. He said SP called to see if their Mom was okay after the hurricane. Now, all of sudden, he knows how much SP spent on sushi for his friends? I'm sorry fella, but are ya'll close brothers or not? I've got sibling who lives 10-15 miles from me, and I couldn't tell you what how they spend their money, I couldn't tell you their address off the top of my head. But the brother he hardly spoke to, he now knows about all of his finances, and spending habits.
I think family, and the g/f, may have known that SP wasn't a "regular" guy, but SP was funneling money to all of them so they turned their heads. I don't think that any of his family thought he'd ever do anything like this. This is strictly an observation. He was probably the odd duck in the family. He wasn't living near the other family members, , so they didn't have to put up with him, but benefited from his wealth, and business acumen. His g/f reportedly put up with him talking down to her, why? She'd lived all over, it seemed she wasn't a prisoner. Someone allegedly benefited from $100k in the Philippines...
I also find it hard to believe that they don't know who got the $100k by now. SP's bank, had to have the receiver's name, acct# and bank name, in order to wire the funds. Surely they know who his banker is by now.
