I have heard about him booking rooms, etc at other outdoor concerts but nothing happened. Some have speculated he "chickened out" or something. But I wonder if he wasn't using them as dry runs to learn from. Hauling all his weapons across the country would have been a pain, but it would make sense for him to go to these events just to see how they looked and get a feel for them. I do find it a bit surprising that he hadn't booked the Mandalay suite in advance. You would think he would have wanted to guaranty he got that reserved well in advance to make sure it was available. Or maybe he did. The information about the room booking and when he arrived is still a bit murky.

It would be interesting to know if the hotel rooms in the other cities that he previously booked, showed damage of any kind to the windows.
Maybe they could not be smashed out the same way as they were broken at the Mandalay, or they made too much noise, or fell in a place that would attract attention?
speculation.

Yep. I'd be willing to bet he was more in it for the free perks and comped items than actually making profits off of the gambling itself. :moo:

He may be more focused on the wins than the losses and really did not look at it over time. It's rare for somebody to be able to earn a living at gambling, nevermind sustaining it for an extended period of time. If you lose, you play some more to try and win back the loss. You get high from the wins and low from the losses. You focus on the wins, it's easier to justify the time and money spent. The "free" stuff from the casinos, the attention...especially in the high roller rooms may pump an ego. The casino may have been the only place this guy felt like "somebody".

The only ones he showed up to were the Vegas hotels, IIRC.

Not sure if already posted.

Here's the latest on the investigation into the Las Vegas shooting:

— At least 59 people, including the shooter, died after Sunday night's mass shooting at a Las Vegas music festival.
— The motive remains unknown, but police say the attack was "obviously premeditated."
— The gunman, Stephen Paddock, may have planned to escape the scene.

— A note authorities found in Paddock's hotel was not a suicide note.

— Paddock visited several music festivals in the Las Vegas area.
— Paddock booked hotel rooms in Chicago in August overlooking the Lollapalooza music festival.

— Authorities have recovered 47 firearms so far from three locations connected to Paddock.

— Paddock reportedly had been stockpiling firearms since 1982 and purchased 33 guns in the past year.

— Paddock was seen gambling for eight hours straight on the night before the shooting.

— Paddock's girlfriend returned to the United States for questioning.

— Paddock was seen with another woman, who was not his girlfriend, in the days before the shooting.

I'm reading backwards, because like I almost always do... I'm late in the conversation.

Anyway, it may have been posted here already, but there is a photo, I think from the Daily Mail that shows a meal cart outside of the door to his room. I noticed there were plates for two as well as two bottles of water. If I see that it hasn't already been posted here, I will try to remember to look for it and post the photo.

That's still not solid proof that there were two people. Some might order two meals and save one for later, so they don't have to order and wait again... the suites have little refrigerators (the bagel w/ cream cheese on that one order might well fit that description, as in saving it for the next day's breakfast).

United States contacted Australia in order to help find MD in Tokyo. (Long Article gives lots of background info...nothing earth-
moving...but still interesting.) Resounding theme of her being a real nice lady....
I did not know she was in marketing in Australia, was a bookkeeper for husband's business and other nuggets.....such as staying/visiting Mandalay Bay in mid-September...

If you look at the uncropped version of the receipt thought, it says "ests: 2" (Guests: 2), the "Gu" isn't visible but it's clear it says guests.

The coroner's office in Las Vegas would not release details of its autopsy on Paddock. Some behavioural experts have wondered whether the 64-year-old Paddock suffered from some kind of brain abnormality or had a terminal illness that prompted him to lash out. The weekend before the massacre, he rented a room through Airbnb at the 21-story Ogden condominiums in downtown Las Vegas and stayed there during a music festival below that included Chance the Rapper, Muse, Lorde and Blink-182.

"Reasons that ran through Paddock's mind is unknown, but it was directly at the same time as Life Is Beautiful," the sheriff said.

Police were reviewing video shot at the high-rise to check Paddock's movements. His renting the condo was curious because as a high-roller, he could have easily gotten a free room at one of the casino hotels on the Vegas Strip.

Would room service only bring a cart if it was food/table for two?

Good point, and I think you could well be right.

Your point mirrors what SP's brother seemed to indicate during an interview when he emphasized the perks, comps and probably fawning that casinos provide for SP and other "whales" (even though SP was on the small end of the whale spectrum).

I can see a possible motive:

- Though SP was far from bankrupt, perhaps he no longer had sufficient cash flow to generate enough "play" to sustain his life style as a “small whale” high stakes gambler. The fawning attention, cool perks and comps from casinos was the only thing that gave his life meaning. He then decides that if he can’t enjoy life anymore, he is going to commit suicide and take others with him?

It sure seems with 100 FBI agents on it financial stuff would be found at least by them

It might seem if they were shady they might hold them but if it was OK why would they not say no concerning financial info has been found?

They had bullets flying everywhere , resort close yet a shelter in place was never issued which is odd.

Cars can be seen (as well as big bus crsuing on down the road after bullets had been flying for some time which is odd

The cleared multiple shooters in a real short time which is super not how they do it.

Most of the time possibility of more than one shooter goes on for hours

just some unique stuff

Like dad he may have some alias that actual covered up criminal past just a thought

One thing I am curious about... The sheriff estimated about 200 rounds were fired into the hallway. That is quite a substantial amount.

I'm not sure this photo of the exterior of the room would support nearly that amount of fire through the hall, unless the bottom of the door literally has a giant hole in it. There are only 9 rounds visible. Multiply what you see by 20, and you're still not at 200 rounds. JMO
MOOCOW... Great thank you's for posting this enlarged photo. In it (per my eyes) I see the other half of the door laying on its side and all the bullet holes in it. Definitely the door that SP shot out of/through and at the Security Guard! From the pattern on the door framing and height it appears SP shot tight and mid-to-low or maybe just not able to control the rapid fire of the gun. In any case, it looks as leg wound could easily be explained. Gosh, things might have been different if he had shot high. If any gun experts out there....please share your interpretation of the photo. Thx
I counted more than 20 bullet holes in just that one area of door pic.

had not heard this one

After the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando in June 2016, an attack that killed 49 and was also claimed by ISIL, Paddock said his brother called him to make sure his kids were OK.

n Brevard County, Stephen Paddock apparently doesn't have a player profile with any of the area’s legal gambling establishments.

Paddock never boarded the Victory Casino Cruises gambling vessel at Port Canaveral, said Lester Bullock, chief executive officer. Bullock asked his employees to check the ship manifest records and the company’s Players Club records on Monday morning after news broke of the massacre.

couple of poker dealers said they believe they may have seen Paddock at Club 52 in 2013-15, but O’Brien said there is no way to confirm that may have happened.
“He wasn’t a regular here.

RSBM

Good question !

Some food for thought : Wouldn't they have established how many people were in that room through sec. cams, by now ?
They should know exactly who went in/out of that room.
And wouldn't the MB hotel have to give up their footage ?

All kinds of rumors floating around... which is why I come HERE to read a more accurate description.

He lived here

https://www.55places.com/florida/communities/heritage-isle

1,773-square foot stucco residence, with its brick-lined driveway, well-manicured lawn and neatly-trimmed palms, was originally built in 2013. The area is dotted with retirement homes and 18-hole golf courses. The home was valued at $218,000,

"It was all done through his Realtor and my Realtor. House was listed, we liked it and we made an offer," said Mick Anderson, who purchased the Viera home from Paddock in 2015. "I had no direct interaction with him. The only thing I can tell you is that documents were regularly late."

He bought the other place Reno? right after he sold this one so I would assume he had some cash as a result of that sale to get into the next house

What does breach mean I thought it meant blow up the door looks fine??

I would imagine it’d be a lot harder to bring all of the weaponry and related items to Chicago or Boston. Driving from NV to Boston with what he brought to Vegas would be risky IMO.

It means to blow open the door. They likely destroyed the hinges/the hinged side. :moo:
