Heres some recent reviews. Check out the lower star ratings and reviews.. its pretty bad.

-quick glance, this caught my eye:

“My gripes first. The $40 resort fee when not using the pools etc. No free coffee in the rooms. $5 if you use the little cup in room. Toilet flushing can be heard in adjoining rooms. Positive. Clean property in all rooms and common areas. Excellent choice of restaurants on property. ***Guards posted at elevators***Spacious well maintained and clean rooms”

yeah.. I read another with staff reviews of the hotel, most were glowing from those still working there.. the others described chaos racism and a culture of croneyism.. they were old tho', 2010-2012 so I did not link them.. one was quite long, from a former security guard.. again too far back for relevance. and pre union too..

Yes, there is security downstairs by the elevators. You need to show your key in order to get into the elevator areas. This is not uncommon in Vegas resorts.

San Antonio, Texas
I visit Las Vegas 2-3 x's a year and this my second visit in 2017!
I had always heard great things about the Mandalay Bay Hotel and the great pool!
My experience was nothing short of horrific and this review was actually drafted 3 pm the afternoon of the terrible shooting on the concert goers, but I felt uncomfortable in posting until today.
Booking and Room: I booked directly through Mandalay Bay using my MLife account. I booked a "Bay" room which was clean and large but "Bay" simple means you are directly next to a Elevator "Bays". Within 10 minutes of being in room, which was almost directly across from ice machine all I heard was ice falling in buckets and a dozen drunk 20 year olds attempting to get into our room ( thinking it was their room) ! I went downstairs and requested room change and was treated nicely by front deck, but was then placed directly (unknowingly below the gunman) across the street from the concert. The music was so loud, I again requested a change to another room to the quite side. The rooms were clean, bathroom nice and beds comfortable, and these are the last nice things I have to say about my stay. The front desk was accomadating but this was the end of the pleasant experience!
Poolside restaurant: Saturday morning after checking in Friday night my husband and I had breakfast at the pool restaurant. My husband asked for a coffee. The waitress informed us that they ran out of milk and creamer and she informed us if we wanted milk in our coffee, we could walk across the way and buy our own milk at the small sundries store...are you kidding me? My husband was so upset, I walked back into the hotel and went to the little coffee shop on that level and walked our coffees backed to our table.
Pool: The pool and beach was huge and nice until around 11 am! By noon the place was an absolute cluster!!! We choose chairs near the pool cabanas...and by noon the place was an absolute ZOO. There was absolutely NO WAY that the people at the pool were hotel patrons. There were people and families of 12-15 people occupying every square inch of the pool and beach area. People had towels spread all around pool you couldn't walk around pool to enter it, people had towels spread out in rock beds surrounding the palm trees and people sitting on the walls waiting for chairs to open up. There clearly was NO security and No occupancy restrictions . I am not afraid of people and water parks as I live in San Antonio Texas and have visited the water parks at Fiesta Texas and Schlitterbahn (the largest water park in the US) more than dozens of times. This wasn't even the club pool scene...but it was crazy overcrowded and smelly. The service for drinks around the pool was equally terrible! It took more than 30 minutes to get your drink order. The girl was sweet and apologized for the service saying they were understaffed. No kidding. My girlfriend who has lived in Las Vegas for 27 years met us at pool and was shocked at the conditions of the pool area. We then quickly shuffled our way out of the pool/beach, fighting the masses of humans by 1 pm.
Casino: While my husband I showered and changed, my girlfriend hung out at the casino. After I was dressed I text her to ask her for her location, she was at Mizuya Lounge bar. She had been there at least 10 minutes attempting to get the attention of the bartender, but he had been rudely avoiding her. By the time I found her, she finally got his attention to order a club soda. She was very upset and the man sitting next to her commented that the bartender Armando was a f$~%*?g a##?!+e had been one the day before too! The man got up and left and I quickly sat and as my girlfriend's water was being delivered and I requested a club soda. Armando barked at me "8 dollars, I mean 7$", I said "what? I just sat down, I am playing". He barked at me "show the camera you are putting in 20 dollars or I won't serve you!" I was in utter shock...I said "I just sat", he barked at me again "show the cameras you are putting in 20$". I've never been spoken to in such a rude manner! By this time my girlfriend was super upset. We looked at each other, said a few profound words under our breath, and we both quickly cashed out! This level of service was highly unprofessional!!
Security: There was absolutely zero visible security throughout the casino and at the elevator bays! ! Absolutely anyone could enter the hotel bays and access the rooms...unlike many of the hotels in Las Vegas. This was particularly bothersome even before I learned of the catastrophic massacre of the concert goers! The security was non-existent at the pool.
Buffet: It was pretty average...nothing to write home about.
Overall rating: Terrible for the money...will never stay at Mandalay ever again.
Prayers to all those who lost their life that day and to their families. Hopefully this will force all hotels in Lad Vegas to protect the millions of people that visit their hotels and spend money in their casinos and at the shows!!!

I’m confused. This article has been posted before. It’s from after the massacre and states there aren’t cameras in the hallway. I honestly forget what the argument is regarding how this article isn’t valid for some reason.

I don't think he walked up 32 flights of stairs with everything that was found in his room. Not debating if there are cameras or not but curious why Vegas would be exempt as per my previous post. Also curious why there has been no cctv footage at all released as of yet of SP. MOO

I was not even exploring it from that aspect.. more to get a general feel of how well or badly the hotel is run..
Its a picture of disintegration.. slovenliness.. carelessness
So many reviewers reported it had disimproved hugely..
I'm not sure yet so would appreciate fresh eyes on the reviews..
A major incident occurs at a disintegrating hotel..
bTW am going stir crazy trying to find their insurers and their insurance stipulations.. sticking disclaimers everywhere might cut it for a washed out motel in the middle of nowhere but in a gradeA hotel they point to carelessness..

Sloppy place.. Lets look more deeply into each department.
Fed stuff is all classified.. this is all ours.

eg all the hotel restaurants will have received reviews, this is an ongoing process.. this will be documented.. just a suggestion.
If for the sake of accuracy we made graphs
its a massive long shot..

This hotel has a very long history of theft.

EMERGENCY EQUIPMENTMandalay Bay Resort & Casino is equipped with alarm and sprinkler systems. Fire extinguishers andother emergency equipment are strategically located in all areas of the building. Mandalay Bay Resort &Casino Security Office monitors all building emergency systems throughout the facility. It is imperativethat all fire hose cabinets, strobes, and fire extinguishers be kept clear, accessible, and free ofobstructions at all times. The fire hose cabinets, strobes, and fire extinguishers are permanent fixtures ofthe facility and cannot be moved.

I found this https://www.mandalaybay.com/content...convention-center-policies-and-procedures.pdf

-Kitty, I read through the pdf for meetings. From my mobile i’m not able to copy & paste, I think pages 9 and 15 are tidbits for pondering.

The room tips were pretty insightful. There's a few that suggest asking for a room near the elevators due to long hallways and the walking distance with luggage.

One tip even points out that room numbers ending in 34 or 35 are located at the very end of the hallway, so they are the furthest from the elevator (in other words, the longest walk).

My favorite: ask the hotel to lock the minibar fridge so you won't be tempted to drink their overpriced bottled water. [emoji23]

Good restaurants

Theres lots to ponder there and its dated Sept17 so is up to date..
I was wondering whether the same or similar terms would have applied to the concert arrangers and while i was reading and thinking that thought I was seeing gaping anomalies... instances whereby it is likely all recommendations had not been met or even checked.. paramedics etc..
I have no mind for or interest in solving the logistics of that.. just a real hunger for info regarding this weird hotel..

Hotels and other organisations change and deteriorate when top management change either in attitude or personnel..

Right. They said he took the freight elevator or whatever. And he was there for multiple days, he probably didn’t take everything up at once. I feel like we’ve talked about the same things over and over.

Your previous post referenced a trade organization. Almost every trade has their own organizations where you pay to be a member. They don’t make the rules or laws, and most of them are pointless unless you’re really into networking. The organization you mentioned is for hotels. The majority of hotels don’t also have casinos bringing in the majority of their revenue. So most hotels have a lot more to close in their hallways than the hotels that have casinos.

Based on this link, if you include tribal casinos with hotels, there are approx 475 casinos with hotels in the US as of 2014. There are approx 53,000 hotels in the US. So I don’t think it’s all that strange for such a small percentage of hotels (meaning those with casinos) to have different priorities than the 53,000 hotels who rely far more on the revenue generated from reservations.

So essentially the hotel is making their own rules as they see fit and aren't bound to follow any standards? I find that odd in itself. They serve the general public. Moo

-same here. This is all for pondering within the erratic context. Though not all may apply to specifics, it certainly is for interest on the way things are stated.

The AHLA doesn’t make rules or laws. It’s a trade organization. It’s optional. You PAY to be a member.

From their website, this is their mission:

The indispensable resource serving, supporting and advocating on behalf of the American hospitality industry.

I urge you to read their membership benefits. You pay for networking, access to their library of information resources, access to industry events, etc. again, it’s a trade organization.

Branded Properties

For just $3 per room, you can become part of an industry-driven advocacy and communications powerhouse!

I read that and now I'm wondering who does ensure guest safety is adhered to? Is it left up to the individual corporation to protect themselves and their guests in Nevada? In which case I could definitely see MGM being in CYA mode.
So far I have not come across anything outlining this.. Moo

I would assume it’s the same as any privately owned business, I don’t see why it’d be any different than a restaurant, gym, mall, club, bar, etc.

Not being snarky. From day one I could never understand why the media was so concerned
about how he got a military base into whoever was in that room ?

Who cares? Relevance your honor?

Its a resort hotel -- the expectation that someone in resort carrying around suitcase ought to have sent off fireworks is , well just totally befuddling to me.

I dont know maybe if someone was lugging a bunch of suitcases into a Burger King or something..................

IMO its over - the story is dead - unless someone leaks IMO this is where they are leaving it .....................a tale that makes no sense whatsoever ............and never will............because it defies logic on any level

complete mystery to me.

There have been more pressers on NY tragedy already ....

IMO it is also wildly confusing to me that there seems to be an expectation that anyone is investigating anything is peculiar

IMO they're gonna get away with it ...one senior citizen fire thousands of assault bullets and does not accidently hit one thing above ground defies gravity

FBI agents are out in the public "painting"?

its sad actually

and at the end of the day it re-traumatizes all the people who saw people firing at them from places other than some high up place

touch the fridge and it adds something to your bill..
excess charges here there and everywhere.
It reads scam from start to finish.. I'm beginning to think a comped room in this fleapit is as useful as a seat on the Titanic..
Who decided to charge the 5$ for instant room coffee.. powder and boiled water?
Bad bad vibe.. am seeing all guests as victims now..
