wow, what a jerk, he used his WIFE's car to do the murder! and the whole returning to the body shortly after killing German? Betting he was worried he had dropped something identifying. Little did he know the DNA was going to get him.
-------------
Through the course of their investigation, police learned a maroon GMC Denali matching the description of the one caught on video was registered to Telles' wife.

Glenn Cook, executive editor of the Review-Journal, said there was talk within the newspaper about Telles being "unhinged" but he never made any physical threats against German and the reporter never said he was worried.

The thought this was the story that would put German's safety at risk seemed implausible, he said, remembering how the reporter recounted once being punched by an organized crime associate.

"He cut his teeth covering the mob," Cook said. "Jeff spent over 40 years covering the worst of the worst of Las Vegas. This was a guy who ran down mobsters, wise guys and killers."

"Jeff's death is a sobering reminder of the inherent risks of investigative journalism," said Diana Fuentes, executive director of the organization Investigative Reporters & Editors. "Journalists do their jobs every day, digging deep to find information the public needs to know and has a right to see."
[snip]
"He was not someone who was easily intimidated," said Geoff Schumacher, who worked with German at the Sun until the late 1990s. "Getting to the truth, that was more important to him than his own well-being or being popular."
[snip]
"He was fearless," Futrell said. "That's one thing he was, and you can't do some of the stories he did without being fearless and that's what he was in that sense. You can see it in his writing."
[snip]
"The last thing I would say about Jeff is that anything scared him or that he was afraid," Feldman said. "He was prepared to go after anyone who was doing something not in the public interest."

Nice article and write-up about JG.
Sadly, we don't seem to have too many of his kind of journalists anymore. Most now seem to regurgitate spoon fed pablum, and are too lazy to get out of Starbucks and do some real investigative journalism. MOO

RIP Jeff

Sheriff Lombardo responds to some regurgitated pablum in his press conference:

I have been a fan of his reporting for years. And I always wondered how risky it would be to be an investigative journalist in Vegas. That has to have a high risk factor. His coverage of Ted Binion was excellent.

Absolutely amazing. Sure, drive your wife's car to kill someone. The guy was definitely not a WS follower.

Sheriff Lombardo responds to some regurgitated pablum in his press conference:

After watching the Press conference over, with the volume turned way up....I could hear the 'reporter/journalist's ' questions asked.

Holy schnikeees!!

This one (IMO, after wiping her vanilla latte' off her mouth, and turning down her continuous ear-bud feed to MS_ BC), 'akshually' questioned Sheriff Lombardo if he thought that the previous POTUS (Trump) had anything to do with this crime.!!!!

Lombardo was stunned...to say the least. And responded with his best and politically safe answer. They had just caught and arrested this guy Telles, who brutally murdered a fellow journalist.. and she brings up politics!!!

Smh
This is journalism today....and it concerns me.
We need more Jeff Germans

LAS VEGAS — Nevada elected county official Robert Telles was denied bail in his first court appearance on Thursday for allegedly murdering Las Vegas journalist Jeff German last Friday.

"Through the DNA recovered from the victim's hands and under his fingernails, they were able to identify the DNA of the defendant," Scow said.

Scratching someone so you get their DNA under your nails is about the most important thing you can do if you're attacked. You might not survive but sooner or later they'll be caught and convicted on that. It sounds like Telles was an especially dumb criminal but other violent criminals may be smarter and cover their tracks better.

I found the perpetrator's choice of outfit quite odd. He wore an orange coat with a hat. The average temperature in Las Vegas has been around 110 lately. Perhaps, he is going to go for an insanity defense.
He must be nuts because in addition to being extremely hot out, his bizarre disguise actually called attention to him. BTW, He was also wearing gloves.

Horrible. JG was just doing his job, and got killed for this. Glad they caught RT so quickly after the crime, given that - in many cases - crimes like this are never solved.

Hopefully they'll throw the book at RT. He deserves the severest punishment(s) for this horrific crime. It makes me sick when people in positions of power/wealthy people get preferential treatment because of their professions/wealth; I hope that doesn't happen here.

That's a bold and interesting outfit to wear to go kill someone. Also, I think this is a very thin woman. She should be easily tracked by cctv. JMO.
Interesting outfit indeed - the conflicting details really stand out. Hi-Vis safety shirt, straw hat, white tennis shoes. The coupe de grace is the bag, lol.
