So far Linda is not on Namus, DoeNetwork, or Charley Project, but I will work on getting a write up done for her and hopefully submitted. She is listed as missing on the Reno PD website.

Details of Disappearance
Originally from St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Linda Taylor moved to Reno, Nevada in November of 1978. Unable to find a job at Lake Tahoe, Linda settled for a bartender job at the Gold Dust West in Reno, Nevada.

On the morning of March 6th, 1979, Taylor was seen speaking to a “husky, bearded young locksmith” at the Keystone Ave branch of the First National Bank of Nevada in Reno. Both of them were there to have documents notarized. After this, she was seen at Frank Moore’s Shoe store, located at 137 North Sierra Street. She told an employee there that she was on the way to have a luncheon date with the man she met at the bank. After this, she was never seen again.

Linda was reported missing by her roommate on March 9, 1979, after she failed to her apartment at 3880 Wixom Ave for several days. She was described as very punctual and dependable, and her disappearance was out of character for her.

Linda’s car, a station wagon, was found parked at a Raley’s supermarket on Pyramid Way in Sparks, Nevada by her brother George. It was determined that it had been driven 23 miles that was unaccounted for. The family was under a strong impression that someone had driven her car there and left it to be found, but no evidence was ever found in her car.

The locksmith that Linda allegedly went on date with was identified as Charles Garry Sullivan. He initially denied knowing Taylor at all when questioned, but than admitted to detectives that he had indeed met her at the bank and than supposedly went on a luncheon date with her. Detectives also questioned two of Sullivan’s girlfriends, but reportedly both women refused to talk about Sullivan’s involvement in Taylor’s disappearance.

Sometime after Linda disappeared, Sullivan shaved his beard, quit his job as a local locksmith, and moved from town without warning. His two girlfriends also skipped town with him when they were wanted for questioning by the police. Investigators eventually tracked him to Missoula, Montana, but were unable to get further information on Linda's whereabouts. No further leads were found.

As a result, Linda's case has been cold for years. Most, if not all, of her direct family has passed away.

In 2019, Charles Garry Sullivan was extradited back to Nevada from Arizona, accused of killing 17-year old Jeannie Smith and 21-year old Julia Woodward in 1979. Like Linda, both were working as waitresses at casinos around Reno at the time of their disappearance. Both woman were found blindfolded and bound, and killed by blunt force trauma to the head. Their bodies were found dumped very close to each other in the Hungry Valley area north of Reno. The Raley’s that Taylor’s car was located at was found 10 miles from where the bodies of Julia and Jeannie were found.

Websleuths article on Julia Woodward can be found here.

Sullivan is accused of being a serial killer, and may have operated within and around California, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, and Arizona state lines.

Interestingly, I believe Linda married D Jones and had a son with him. He lives in the StPl/MPLS area still. I can't find any divorce records.

The circumstances don't entirely match up but I do wonder if she could be Trinidad Jane Doe.
I was also considering Trinidad Jane Doe - The time period and Linda's stats match quite well. However, location and circumstances would be hard to fit as you said. But who

I'd say it wouldn't hurt to submit, anything is really possible.

I actually came across this too - I can't remember where I read it but I think this is a different Linda Lou Taylor who happened to also live in Minnesota and was extremely close in age to our Linda. I'll have to try to find the article but her parents were listed as different people.

I added Linda to Namus as a draft, then it seems it automatically restricted it after I put in the case number. Wasn't able to upload any of the extra photos or newspaper articles I found, but hopefully she will get added.

If she does I'll try to email the extra photos and info to Namus.

Submitted as a possible match to UP89100

Not much is known about this Jane Doe but she is estimated to have been 5'2-5'10". She was found on a natural area by hikers near Pyramid Highway in Reno, so on the same highway that Linda's car was found at.

The man that Linda was last seen with was sentenced to 15 years for the murder of Julia Woodward in 1979 with possibility for parole in 5 years. The guy is 80, but still that sentence feels way to short.

Hopefully he will give up the location of Linda's body so her family can have closure.

Taylor was last seen in Reno, Nevada on March 7, 1979. Earlier that day she had gone to the First National Bank of Nevada to have something notarized, met a young man there and made a lunch date with him. She went to the shoe store on South Sierra and bought a pair of shoes before her date.

The man she was going to meet is described as in his twenties, with light-colored hair. He worked as a self-employed locksmith in Reno and was going to travel to Aspen, Colorado. Taylor spoke to him about backpacking.

A receipt indicates she bought groceries at the Raley's store on Keystone on March 8. She may have been sighted at her apartment complex in the 3800 block of Wixom Drive on March 9. She has never been heard from again.

On March 18, her station wagon was found abandoned in the parking lot of the Raley's store on Pyramid Way. It had been driven 23 miles that couldn't be accounted for. Inside the car were the leotards and shirt she normally wore when she worked out at a health spa, which was nearby.

After Taylor's disappearance, the locksmith she made a date with quit his job, shaved his beard and moved out of town. A private investigator hired by Taylor's family located him in Missoula, Montana in the summer of 1979. He denied any knowledge of Taylor's whereabouts.

Taylor is described as a responsible woman whose unexplained disappearance is uncharacteristic of her behavior. She had moved to Reno from Minnesota the previous autumn and taken a job as a bartender at Gold Dust West bar. In the days prior to her disappearance, she was upset because she had had a disagreement with someone at work, and didn't plan to return to her job. She kept in regular touch with her loved ones and had never missed a car payment.

Investigators believe Taylor may have been murdered. Her case remains unsolved.
