A 37-year-old mother of four in Nevada is facing a spate of child abuse charges after her 1-year-old son died in a filthy home without running water or air conditioning — which led authorities to discover that her 8-year-old daughter had been locked inside of her bedroom for over a year because the little girl had allegedly been sexually assaulted by the mother’s former boyfriend.

A Clark County grand jury earlier this month indicted Philena Dees on seven counts of first-degree child abuse or neglect charges, records reviewed by Law&Crime show.

Dees’ boyfriend, 37-year-old Juan De La Cruz, was arrested and charged last month with two counts of sexual assault against a child under age 14 and two counts of lewdness with a child under age 14, records show.

I highly doubt this former boyfriend was a former boyfriend at all. The lock being swapped on the 8 year old's room would only prevent her from leaving the room not the boyfriend from entering it so that excuse is a ridiculous load of feces from mom. Of course with her house being in the state it was in and no working pulumbing she is probably noseblind to how bad her story stinks.

I don't believe the boyfriend and her broke up in September 2022 when he moved back to New Mexico. She kept him around from January 2022, when she allegedly witnessed SA, until September 2022, when he, not her, decided he should move out?

She locked that child up not to protect her but to make sure she didn't have to look at her child who she was betraying and so that she would never accidently see her boyfriend do that again. He could simply make sure he did so in the bedroom if he wanted to, problem solved. UGGG

Thank goodness ALL this [unusual person]'s children have been removed from the care of their birth giver. May she pay for her abuse and neglect and grow a brain making her smart enough not to have future children.

I would like to know update on the 15 year old son, going into foster care as an older child having no boundaries or discipline may be difficult to adjust. Completely different perspective is that he’s like good riddance to that life bring on the structure and discipline.
