Grim signs point to foul play for Connecticut man who vanished after posh Manhattan party

A 26-year-old Connecticut man disappeared after going to a party in a Midtown apartment — and the NYPD thinks he may have been the victim of foul play, police sources said Tuesday.

Emergency Service Unit police dogs found pants they believe belong to missing Joseph Comunale along with bloody sheets inside a garbage bag near the apartment building on E. 59th St. near First Ave. he visited late Saturday, sources said.

Comunale, who is from Stamford, joined two men from New Jersey and three women who were visiting the son of a well-known jeweler who lives in the Grand Sutton tower, sources said.

At about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, hours after the women had left, the host called the front desk to request a luggage cart, police sources said. A short time later, video surveillance captured him wheeling out two pieces of luggage.

"The party host later asked a building employee how long video surveillance is kept before being erased, sources said."

Hinky to the max!

Seriously though, how long does one have to wait for a warrant in such circumstances?!

According to our sister station ABC7, Comunale, a graduate of Hofstra University, was last seen Sunday morning on the Upper East Side. He apparently traveled into the city with friends Saturday night to attend a party at the Grand Sutton, which is located along East 59th Street.

Stamford Police tell ABC7 that Comunale willingly stayed behind Sunday morning after his friends left the party.

I wonder why his friends left him there? Was he too drunk to walk out with them?

Well if he said he wanted to stay...he was a grown man, why would they not leave, assuming he was okay at the time?

I guess I got the impression he did not know the host and he is from out of town--I thought they were his ride there. I see now upon second reading that it just says he "traveled with" his friends and that could mean a train/bus/taxi. I still think it's weird if they left him there. I'm an adult but I wouldn't want my friends to leave me wasted in a strange place with strangers. That's why I would go out with friends and not off to party alone--my friends would look out for me. I guess if he told them it was ok to leave, ok. But I hope they are questioning the friends about what type of party this was and the friends are forthcoming.

Sources: Body Of Missing Connecticut Man Found; 2 People In Custody

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2016/11/16/nypd-disappearance-of-connecticut-man/

Sources say his body was discovered Wednesday, meaning this missing person case could turn into a possible homicide investigation, CBS2’s Magdalena Doris reported.

Sources say two people are in custody, including a young man who lives in the apartment surrounding the case.

I wish the paper would identify their "sources" but it does sound like they found his body.

RIP Joseph.
