According to NamUs, Ovetsky's DNA has been submitted, type unspecified:
https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/6478/0/
The UID lists both types of DNA available (https://identifyus.org/cases/2872) so there should have been a comparison no matter which DNA Ovetsky has. So I think this is probably a ruleout by default?
Thank you carbuff. Ive only been with websleuths a short period of time and within that time frame Ive realized the negative aspects of the databases we rely so heavily on. If only all the case managers/detectives od these cases were equipped to update the technological databases accordingly. Here is a statement I find interesting on Namus's official website.
Through NamUs, a diverse community of criminal justice professionals, medical examiners and coroners, victim advocates, families of missing persons, and the general public now can contribute to solving these cases.
Its a slow process, we are witnessing history in the making obviously...
