Nicole moved to Ithaca when she was 14 years old to live with her biological mother. In August, the frequent calls to her father stopped. "I tried to call her for a week and I couldn't get ahold of her. A couple days later her mother called me and told me she was missing," he said. Shortly after, the family filed a missing persons report with the Ithaca Police Department.

"The last time we had confirmed to have seen Nicole was August 17th or 18th, which we believed to be on the 600 block of Elmira Road in Ithaca," said Ithaca police.

Nicole was in and out of rehab for heroin addiction and had several run-ins with Ithaca Police. Detectives say they're doing all they can, monitoring Nicole's cellphone records and social media pages, but most leads have gone cold.

Marranca was 27 years old when she went missing around Aug. 18. Police say she was last seen at the Economy Inn, located at 658 Elmira Road in Ithaca. Since then, there have been no confirmed sightings of her, and Marranca's friends and family have said she has not contacted them.

A few people have since said she was also seen at The Old Goat downtown, where she (or possibly somebody else) left her ID. Police have declined to publicly comment about the claim.

Officer Jamie Williamson said Monday that the case is still an open investigation.
"We unfortunately do not have any significant new developments to announce, and we renew our plea to the public for their assistance," he said.

Since Marranca went missing, her father Nick Marranca and step-mother Kelley Marranca have made multiple trips to Ithaca to look for her.

They said they know Nicole is addicted to heroin and worked as an escort to get money to feed her habit. She often posted provocative ads online looking for "dates." She'd been arrested several times in the past. Many of her friends are also involved in drugs and sex work.

But that wasn't always the lifestyle she lived.
Her family remembers her as a young woman who rode horses and won equestrian competitions. She has a young daughter her parents take care of. They'd tried to help here get sober in the past but their efforts were not successful. Despite that, Nicole Marranca stayed close to her father.
The family is offering a $1,000 reward for any tip the directly leads to the finding of Nicole Marranca.
Marranca is described as a white 28-year-old woman who is about 5-feet-4-inches tall and weighs about 110 pounds. She has blue eyes and her dark blonde hair was cut just above her shoulders when she went missing. She also has a red, white, and blue Grateful Dead tattoo between her shoulder blades.

Nicole's step-mother is inviting the public to help in a search this weekend, the search party will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Ithaca Walmart parking lot. The new search locations will depend on how many people will meet Saturday morning.

Searches for Nicole Marranca were conducted in the fall, stopped during the winter, but resumed in the spring. In April, people searched in The Jungle, a wooded area behind Walmart sometimes inhabited by the homeless, some of who knew Nicole Marranca.

Hoping some more people can take a look at this.

Nicole has been missing for over a year now. On the anniversary, her loved ones held a vigil for her. A reward for information has also been increased to $2,000.

So far the only traces of her have been her ID (left at a bar - unsure if left by Nicole or someone else using her ID and when it was left) and her jacket which was recovered at a homeless camp.

One strange thing to note is that missing posters for Nicole has been consistently torn down when posted including flyers posted for her vigil last month. Of course this could be a totally unrelated thing but I think its worth noting.

I also wanted to point out that she has a pretty identifiable tattoo on her back between her shoulder blades - a red, white and blue grateful dead skull with leaves (I think they were marijuana leaves but the official reports just say leaves). Unfortunately there is no known photo of this tattoo but I think the description alone is pretty identifiable. The tattoo is mentioned on her missing posters and profiles however, I haven't seen it emphasized much.

I know a few members of her family personally and I really do hope they can find answers soon.

Also, for anyone who wants a better look at her, definitely look at the facebook page set up for her that is linked above. There's a variety of photos of her at different weights. To me, she looks considerably different from photo to photo so I think looking at all of the posted photos is really necessary to get a good idea of her appearance.

Details of Disappearance
Marranca was last seen in Ithaca, New York on August 18, 2017. She was seen at the Economy Inn in the 600 block of Elmira Road; she may have left with a Caucasian male in a black pickup truck. She was possibly sighted a sporting goods store, the Old Goat Gear Exchange, that same day. Her identification was found at the store. She has never been heard from again.

At the time of her disappearance, Marranca worked as an escort to support her drug addiction. She was homeless, associated with other drug users and sex workers, and had an arrest record. However, she did stay in touch with her family, and it's uncharacteristic of Marranca to leave without warning. Her case remains unsolved.

Sunday, Aug. 18, marks two years since Nicole Marranca was last seen in Ithaca. Her family still holds out hope that they will someday find her, or at least get answers about why she suddenly disappeared.

"We still know absolutely nothing," Kelley Marranca, a family member, said Thursday. "It's frustrating. It's upsetting. I just think somebody knows something."

Nicole Dawn Marranca was last seen Aug. 18, 2017, at the Old Goat Gear Exchange in Ithaca. There have been few concrete leads about what happened to her after that. Over the years, many tips have come in but none have led police or family to any answers yet. The Ithaca Police Department is still actively investigating the case, and according to the lead investigator on the case, Inv. Kevin McKenna, he has followed up on more than 100 leads.

McKenna said he has not closed the case yet "because I feel that it is solvable. Quite honestly, I have a vested interest in finding out the truth. I've been working on it for so long. I want closure for the family."

Missing Ithaca woman would have turned 30 Wednesday

It's been more than two years since Nicole Marranca was last seen.

For her birthday this year, her friends and family want people to remember that she is still missing.

"I just don't want it to be forgotten," Nicole's stepmother Kelley Marranca said. "Her birthday is Wednesday, she'd be thirty years old."

Family of missing Ithaca woman allege police not doing enough

For a little more than four years, Nicole Marranca has been missing. Her family wants answers as to why the woman who was last seen in Ithaca disappeared.

It's something they were hoping to know more about before Nicole's 32nd birthday on December 11.

Nicole's stepmother, Kelley Marranca, who lives in the Buffalo area, believes her daughter has been stigmatized by police because of her life choices, drug addiction being one of them, saying that her family is not yet giving up their search.

The red "missing person" signs with Nicole's picture have been seen around Ithaca since her disappearance on August 18, 2017.

"Every time you hear about a body, you do ... it does cross your mind," said Marranca. "If she would have known that we reported her missing, she would have found out and she would have called us."

Marranca and her husband, Nicole's biological father, have searched various places in Ithaca.

"But we really don't know where to search, because we don't know the exact location where she was last seen," she said.

Marranca set up a "Find Nicole Marranca" Facebook page, which she still checks. Tips have come in, but the real challenge, she said, is distinguishing the rumors and disinformation from actual tips.

"Being the fact that she was an addict, we thought maybe she just, you know, overdosed somewhere," said Marranca. "This person saying her body's here, this person saying her body's there, you know, and it's stressful."

As the years have gone by with no answers, Marranca alleges Ithaca police have not searched for Nicole enough.

"She had been arrested a few times for minor things, and that she was an addict, and she was homeless, that they just felt, you know, 'well, there's more important things for us to be doing because she was just another addict,'" she said.

The Ithaca Police Department did not return a request for comment on this story.

When reached for comment, Tom Condzella, president of the Ithaca Police Benevolent Association, said he could not comment specifically on Marranca's case.

"[Ithaca Police] have other things that are pressing for them. And I know that they can't jump on everything right away, but it's frustrating being two and a half hours away," said Marranca.

Marranca and others on social media have vowed to keep searching. Above all, she and her husband really want closure.

"Just to know, you know, what happened? Just so we can bring her home," she said.

Nicole's family is asking anyone with information to come forward, with tips welcome on her Facebook page and the Ithaca Police Department's anonymous tipline.
