Investigators are asking for assistance in solving a missing persons case that dates back to more than 30 years ago. Richard's profile on NamUs and Doe Network have his last date seen listed as May 24, 1984. The recent press articles concerning his case have it listed as January 1985. It might be that the second date is when he was reported missing but the first date could be when he was actually seen last. Regardless of the source, none of them have much information concerning the details of his disappearance. He vanished from a veteran's hospital and hasn't been seen since then. He may use the alias of Richard Bunn.

If he was last seen at a Veterans Affairs Office, and wasn’t reported missing until January of 1985, there is a chance he may have been homeless.

It’s a long shot but I was looking at
Manhattan John Doe #UP123278 - June 19, 1984 as a possible match.

This John Doe was wearing multiple pairs of boxers as well as thermal wear. The only difference is this John Doe was wearing a blue striped shirt and Richard was seen wearing a white checkered shirt.

Interesting thing to note;
When I searched through google images for a white checkered shirt, images came up that depicted examples of shirts that could technically be categorized as either a blue striped shirt or a white checkered shirt.

Because of this, I have gone ahead and submitted this John Doe for review.

In fact he appears to be wearing a shirt similar to the one I was describing. It’s under the brown jacket/sweater/coat seen in his NAMUS profile photo
