New York woman, who vanished on bus trip to find twin sister, still being sought 8 years later

Sandy Nurse told her family she was boarding a bus to New York City to find her twin sister, embarking on a trip that would involve traveling 30 miles south from her Central Nyack, New York home.

That was eight years ago. Sandy hasn't been heard from since. It's unknown if Nurse took the trip, made it to New York City or found her sister, Candy Nurse. Sandy simply appeared to vanish, leaving her family and, now, the Clarkstown Detective Bureau's Cold Case Unit desperately searching for answers.

Nurse’s family reported her missing to the Clarkstown Police Department eight years ago, and the department is still looking for her, on Thursday posting a picture and press release about the case on Facebook.

Police Still Searching For Woman Who Vanished While Looking For Sister Eight Years Ago

Eight years after Sandy Nurse mysteriously vanished, police have revealed they're still searching for the New York woman who disappeared while looking for her sister.

Sandy Nurse, who was 30 years old when she disappeared, had been traveling from Central Nyack, New York to New York City to visit her twin sister, Candy, according to Fox News. It's unclear at what point Sandy went missing: Police are unsure if she ever got on a bus or train, if she ever arrived in the city, or if she ever reunited with her sibling.

Sandy had been diagnosed with bipolar schizophrenia and needs medication, according to statements from police.

Sandy was described as 5'3" tall, African-American, and weighing approximately 120 pounds with brown eyes and black hair, according to MidHudson News, a Peekskill, New York-based news organization. She would be 38 years old now.

The Clarkstown Detective Bureau's Cold Case Unit and the Nurse family have kept Sandy's case open. On October 11, the Clarkstown Police Department posted a press release to Facebook with a picture of Sandy in the hopes of gaining more information about her possible whereabouts.

"The family of Sandy Nurse came to the Clarkstown Police Headquarters 8 years ago to report that Sandy Nurse was missing. Sandy’s last contact with family was that she was getting on a bus to New York City to locate her twin sister, Candy Nurse," reads the post.
