It looks like that there are now two men missing who where last seen on the same small (55 square acres) Indian reservation on Long Island.

Evidently, the reservation is a state reservation, not a federal reservation. This could make a difference regarding law enforcement jurisdiction.

Remains recovered on Long Island identified as missing Brentwood man

The driver was heading eastbound on the Southern State Parkway, got off at Exit 40 to get on the Robert Moses Causeway southbound, and then pulled off onto the grass on the west side of the ramp when the discovery was made near the woods at about 7:15 a.m., police said.

“Something in the wood line caught his eye upon closer look, the individual believed it to be human skeletal remains and called 911,” Capt. Christopher Casale told reporters during a briefing at the scene.

A driver in Long Island last night, July 13th, saw something while driving eastbound on the Southern State Parkway, so he got off at Exit 40 to get on the Robert Moses Causeway southbound and inspected the scene - finding something he knew was gruesome, the driver immediately called in the authorities.

Once the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and Forensic Identification Unit (FIU) arrived on the scene, they confirmed it was human remains. While the body was sent out for testing, police haven't publicly identified the victim and likely won't until they manage to make contact with a family member, which could take time.
