I searched for news from today’s hearing and found this:

Court hearing for mother accused of killing ‘Geauga’s Child’ held behind closed doors

The criminal trial management conference for Gail Eastwood-Ritchey was held in the judge’s chamber at the Geauga County Court of Common Pleas.

Eastwood-Ritchey was in the courthouse for the meeting, but it’s unclear at this time what was discussed between her attorneys and the prosecution.

The jury trial for Eastwood-Ritchey is scheduled for Jan. 27.

Eastwood-Ritchey also admitted to detectives that she committed a similar crime two years prior to the birth of Geauga’s Child in Cuyahoga County. That case is still under investigation.

OMG, I totally missed that. So there is another poor baby abandoned somewhere. I hope she gave the detectives enough information so that the remains of the other baby are found (if they haven’t already found them). :(

*Trial set to begin-CONTINUED! (@ 8:30am ET) – OH - Geauga’s Child (newborn) (Mar. 25, 1993) - *Gail M. Eastwood-Ritchey (49/23 @ time of crime) arrested (6/6/19), charged (6/7/19) & arraigned (6/10/19) with aggravated murder & murder. Plead not guilty. $250K bond. Bonded out 6/10/19; GPS monitor & surrendered passport.
Trial was set to begin on 4/27/20-continued due to coronavirus, no further dates as of 4/27/20.
6/10/19 Update: Arraignment hearing. Plead not guilty & bond set at $250K. 8/6/19: Pretrial hearing. Judge approved reporters request to broadcast-approved for WOIO, WKYC TV, FOX 8 & WEWS 5. 9/18/19 Motion to continued trial (10/28/19)-granted. Moved to 1/27/20. 10/21/19: Motion for change of venue. 12/3/19: Motion for change of venue is deferred until a voir dire in Geauga County is attempted. Next trial management conference hearing on 1/10/20. Had a Status call hearing 1/2/20 with lawyers & judge only. 1/6/20: Defense files motion for continuance of trial-granted on 1/9/20.

1/16/20 Update: Trial was originally set to start Jan. 27, but it was moved due to her defense attorney’s scheduling conflict with a case in federal court. The case is now set for April 27. Her attorney Steven L. Bradley attempted to move the trial out of Geauga County due to pretrial publicity, but Common Pleas Court Judge David M. Ondrey differed that motion until an attempt to seat a jury is made. Next Trial Management hearing on 4/9.
3/14/20: According to the Ohio Dept. of Health, Ohio’s COVI-19 pandemic will peak around that time or in early May. Courts will continue to scheduled things for their calendars.
3/25/20 Update: Hearing on 4/9 & trial on 4/27 have been continued. No updates as of 4/27 no further dates.

The Geauga’s Child murder trial postponed in April due to the novel coronavirus is now scheduled to begin Aug. 24

The “Geauga’s Child” murder trial has been continued again and is now scheduled to begin Feb. 28, 2022, according to Geauga County Common Pleas Court records.

Gail Eastwood-Ritchey of Euclid was arrested in June 2019 for allegedly killing her newborn baby in 1993. She is facing trial in Geauga County Common Pleas Court on charges of aggravated murder and murder.

The trial was most recently scheduled to begin Oct. 18, but defense attorney Steven L. Bradley in late September asked for a two-week continuance of the case due to his involvement in an ongoing federal court case.

This child would have been 19 years of ago if.... :(
