MSNBC has also picked up that the professor was stabbed inside the building- that IMO is huge - indicates, IMO ,intended target .

From what I'm piecing together, it sounds like there was a crowd of students outside BECAUSE the alarm was pulled in a building. It was that crowd that the driver ran into, before jumping out the car with a knife.

Do I have that right? If so, it seems as if the fire alarm would be related.

The timeline is still fuzzy to me - correct me if you have better info. Thanks.

This is solely mo , I think the florine leak and resulting fire alarm had nothing to do with what happened next. MOO

MOO I think the guy was on his way up to stab his professor , and then the leak and call for fire, and alarm being pulled happened .

This only mo, turned his escape into what it became. The running over people in the street , cause of the fire alarm was right after he made a left turn. Don't remember which was on in background. That struck me as he had no time to stop and was fleeing his attempt to kill/ hurt a professor he had.

Only how I am trying to piece this together, like all of us!!

It is truly convoluted, honest, I can not recall a story that turned out to be so wrong for so long with people being run over by a car and it remaining an active shooter for hours even tho there was a body, clearly identified as the suspect, in the street for hours.

Officials: Attack appears to be planned
Law enforcement officials told NBC News the suspect's name is 18-year-old Abdul Artan, a student at the university. He was a Somali refugee who left his homeland with his family in 2007, lived in Pakistan and then came to the United States in 2014 as a legal permanent resident of the United States, officials said.

The motive was unknown, but officials said the attack was clearly deliberate and may have been planned in advance.
"This was done on purpose," Stone said.

I am so very thankful for WS rules because that is not the name the news station gave as being registered to the car.

Has it been reported that he was a student at OSU?

I'm not doubting you - I'm just multi-tasking and not able to keep up with the news reports.

Right after the name was released, there were only 3 links that showed up in a Google search for it. Two about the attack. And one was a program from a graduation ceremony at Columbus State Community College. He apparently got his Associate of Arts degree back in May from there.

MSM has reported 2 different names and ages. Is it possible the car didn't belong to attacker?

Okay, that makes sense if he was in the Science building on OSU campus.

I'm going to assume he was a student at OSU.

This student on Fox just said the professor was outside when he was attacked.

Ali was a student at Ohio State University and was a legal resident of the United States,

that the attacker “completely silent” during the stabbing. The witness said the suspect “was very creepy.”

that “a fire alarm was pulled, people cleared Watts Hall, then a car came along and started hitting those who evacuated.”

the person in the car had a “large knife.” .

A witness, Jerry Kovacich, told the Ohio State Lantern about his experiences saying:
I didn’t see anything with the shooter, what happened was it was outside of MacQuigg Lab. The guy ended up just coming and hopping the curb with his car and trying to mow down a couple people.
He lost control, and I think he ended up hitting three people, and then people were around the car. Somebody asked him if he was OK and the guy just hopped out of the car with a butcher knife and starting chasing people around.
a car with Massachusetts plates is said to be at the center of the investigation.

That is what I am thinking. The reported owner of the car shared one of the names the attacker has so maybe related somehow?

Has anyone found any social media for him?

How about any actual confirmation that he was a current student at OSU?

Artan was on the Dean's LIst at Columbus State Community College in August, 2016.
