PIKE COUNTY, Ohio —

A town woke up one morning to the horror that eight people were brutally killed. The Rhoden family suffered an unthinkable loss eight times over on one late April night in 2016. And years would go by before an arrest was made, and the massacre of an entire family still haunts Pike County, Ohio to this day. On April 22, 2021 Edward Jake Wagner pleads guilty and agrees to testify against family members.

PRESSER: APRIL 27, 2016

Video Interview with Attorney General DeWine Published 8-13-16

Minors: You may discuss what is covered in the main stream media regarding the custody of minor children. If posting snips from articles regarding the children please redact their names. These babes are innocents. One day they will google their names or those of their parents. And plenty will come up. Let's be respectful of them and the catastrophic loss they have suffered at such tender ages. Thanks.

DO NOT SLEUTH STILL LIVING FAMILY MEMBERS' FACEBOOK PAGES AND POST ABOUT IT HERE. Just don't mention it. Period.

Leave the politics, both national and local, at the door. There is no room for them here.

Discussing both sides of what is being presented in court is permitted.

Do not chastise other members for their point of view.

This trial is expected to be very long, and with any case there will likely be topics or claims presented that one personally disagrees with. That is OK - everyone is entitled to share their point of view, as long as it is done within TOS, facts are linked, the essence of the comment is victim friendly, and other posters are not attacked for their own point of view.

11/22/22 Tuesday: Attorneys & Judge only today. Judge says he expects they will spend a great deal of time today finalizing jury instructions after they argue some related defense motions. Angela Canepa said due to Jake's testimony & the fact that all of it was officially submitted as evidence for the jury to use in deliberations; the prosecution would drop the death specification charges in counts 1 thru 8 - the ones that apply to Aggravated Murder. All parties agreed. Judge Randy Deering granted the State’s request to drop the death penalty that possible sentence if George Wagner is convicted of aggravated murder charges. The jury will learn about the decision (DP dropped) before the closing statements begin.

Lawyers are due back at 9am on Monday, 11/28/22 to finalize jury instructions. Closing arguments follow. Jury back on 11/28/22 for closing arguments & jury instructions. Judge Randy Deering last week told jurors to expect to begin deliberations no later than Nov. 30.
11/22/22: Defendant's Motion #118: Motion for proposed jury instructions on the affirmative defenses to conspiracy filed. And defendant's Motion #119: Motion for proposed jury instructed on implicit bias filed. Judge Deering denied 6 of the 8 motions filed by defense. Do not know which ones - yet.

He testified, at 16, he left home for the first time after a fight with his father. He was tired of putting up with his mom and dad, he said. He drove 250 miles to KY and turned back and went back home.

He tried again to leave years later when his wife attempted suicide, during the time they shared a home with mother and bro. He wanted to move to Alaska but decided that a move there wasn’t feasible, and stayed in OH to keep a roof over his head. He testified "I wished I hadn’t turned around in KY."

Did he convince anyone his desire to leave family? I’d say there’s a very strong loyalty to family, especially the older he got; the evidence showed this IMO.

Moreover, after much abuse and control over TC, he's able to get her out of his life, and have full access to their son, exactly as granny wanted demand and pushed for.

For the record, investigators found copies of TC’s driver’s license and SS card in his truck. The record also shows attempts to obtain EA’s (JW’s ex) personal info, such as SSN too.

JW and Hanna May bickered for two years about S. JW insisted they live with mom and bro. Bro JW threatened to take S by force if she didn’t make a choice.

Hanna May’s Facebook response was viewed by AW, and it triggered something in her.

They. Then. Move. Onto. The. Next. Victim.

The beginning of the end, the planning and demise of generations of innocent people.

His uncle even testified that he felt betrayed by GW4. I’m sure the uncle was thinking you cross the line when you commit murder. It's only insurance fraud, dude, now you go and mess with peoples' lives.

Prosecution proved his involvement. He lived under the same roof with AW & JW, and for months prior to the murders the W’s (including GW4) premeditated and conspired and planned to commit murder of Hanna May and anyone that got in the way. There’s enough evidence to put him away for LWOP.

This is in my opinion only and a matter of opinion - seek justice!

I’m sorry, it’s not behind a paywall for me. I guess this ballances the many many articles we can access in Europe due to GDRP.
