“The search for a missing Grove woman continues more than a week since she was reported missing.

Aubrey Dameron, 25, of rural Grove was reported missing on March 11. She was last seen at approximately 3:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 9, leaving her mother’s home north of Grove.

Dameron was last seen wearing a thigh-high black mini-skirt, black hose, black shirt and black leather boots with heels.

A member of the Cherokee tribe, Dameron is approximately 5-foot, 9-inches and weighs 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, with a triquetra symbol tattooed on her back, and a tattoo reading ‘shorty’ on her upper left arm.

Dameron has been entered as missing into the National Crime Information Center [NCIC] by investigators with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Investigator Gayle Wells said detectives are actively working the case. Dameron’s phone has been pinged, but has not given a response.

Detective Brandon Houston said law enforcement is working with surveillance teams at area casinos to examine footage.

He is following up with the staff at Quapaw Casino, specifically, to determine if a possible sighting of Dameron on Saturday, March 16 was accurate.

That tip, Wells said, included Dameron with a heavy set, Native American man with long dark hair.

Wells said it appears Dameron left her mother’s home on her own accord. Dameron reportedly told family members she planned to meet someone.

Wells said as of Monday, March 19, the evidence does not indicate Dameron is a victim of foul play, at this time.

More about Dameron

Dameron’s uncle Christian Fencer, and aunt Pamela Smith, fear her disappearance may be related to a hate crime.

Dameron, who was born Austin Dameron, began transitioning and identifying as a female while a student at Grove High School.

Dameron has undergone some medical procedures during the transition, but has not completed the process.

[SBM]

Smith said Dameron’s ex-boyfriend reportedly threatened Dameron, should she leave the relationship.

Fencer said he does not believe his niece left on her own free will. He said she is epileptic is dependent upon seizure medicine.

[SBM]

Fencer said reports Dameron may be suicidal are false.

‘She would not harm herself,’ Fencer said. ‘She is very strong in every sense of the word. She is always lifting people up.’

Dameron, a Cherokee Nation citizen, has not been seen since about 3:30 a.m. on March 9, when she left her mother’s home near Grove, reportedly to meet with someone.

‘We did a search (on March 23) with a small group,’ said Pam Smith, Dameron’s aunt. ‘The only thing found was a sock with possible blood on it. Delaware County (Sheriff’s Office) picked it up and sent it to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. The OSBI has been brought in because this is no longer regarded as a ‘normal’ missing persons case.

Smith said a judge had recently signed a search warrant for Dameron’s Facebook page, but that it had not yielded any leads, nor had other social networking apps on her phone. Dameron’s GPS last reportedly ‘pinged’ at 3:42 a.m. on March 9, and only about 100 yards from her mother’s house. Attempts to contact Dameron through her phone have not been successful, Smith said.

‘We are planning other searches…,’ Smith said. ‘They will include Oklahoma City search and rescue, and we will be working with other search and rescue teams from around the state. They want to continue ground searches in the Grove area where Aubrey lived, and they are planning a water search near the shorelines.’

[SBM]

Dameron is also reportedly on prescriptions, and Smith said ‘she did not take her medications with her.’

Smith said law enforcement investigators are following several leads.

The police consider her trans identity to be a risky “lifestyle choice”??
Yikes no wonder the family is looking for more help..
Perhaps "choice" wasn't the best word but LE statistics do show that transgender women are subject to higher rates of violence than non-transgender women. I do hope she is brought home safe. Her family loves her.

Oh you are so right! Statistically, trans women of color have extreme rates of violence perpetrated against them... its terrible. LE’s wording was absolutely lacking understanding and if I were a member of her family I would be frustrated too...

When reading the story I sort of thought the cops meant because she was contacting and being contacted online by people she had not met and meeting them in person. Which is not safe in anyone's life, but still not something someone deserves to be harmed for. I don't think this is going to turn out to be a good outcome. I do hope they find her safe.

A Grove woman hasn't been seen for nearly three months, but authorities said the matter is still classified as a missing persons case even though a woman faces an extortion charge and a family member reportedly admitted killing her.

From the article:

“‘The leads that we get on this are almost continuous,’ [Delaware County Undersheriff Gayle] Wells said Wednesday afternoon, noting that he spoke earlier in the day to someone who turned over voice recordings that bolstered existing evidence.

[SBM]

A probable cause affidavit states that an aunt of Dameron’s alleged that Dameron’s mother said her boyfriend disclosed on April 6 that he had killed her. But Wells told the Tulsa World there has been no evidence so far to corroborate that alleged statement. He said he asked Dameron’s mother about the claim himself, and she told him that her boyfriend ‘didn’t say that.’

I believe I found the affidavit mentioned in the story (I hope it’s OK to post the document as it is a matter of public record).

The narrative as described in the “Facts & Circumstance ...” section of the affidavit, starting at the bottom of page 1, is troubling, IMO.

This is awful! So is this the mother's bf that confessed to killing Aubrey? Or, Aubrey's bf? I am assuming mom's. Why would anyone deny such a confession took place? Heartbreaking! Aubrey's life must have been very hard... a lot of things to overcome
