I'm surprised not to see this on here (and maybe it is; go ahead and whoosh the threads if it is) but this Michigan physician, who was turned in by his very heroic and no doubt frightened wife, is believed to have HUNDREDS of victims.

He was like the British actor Jimmy Savile, in that he didn't seem to have any kind of preference or discrimination about who he exploited.

A physician in Michigan has been arrested on charges relating to filming young children and grown adults in changing rooms at a Rochester swim school, Oakland County authorities announced Tuesday, adding they expect to identify more victims after they say thousands of other videos and images were found on the doctor’s devices, including footage of him assaulting a patient at a hospital

I remember a pediatrician, IIRC in Delaware, who was arrested for abusing children, and he molested some of them right in front of their parents! He chose families that he didn't think would know that what he was doing was wrong (doing a pelvic exam on a small child when it wasn't warranted, that kind of thing).

This name doesn't sound Indian, which is usually phonetic. This name is hard to pronounce! I wonder about his actual nationality.

Got that right. He is evidently Indian, but Oumair is Arabic. Note: Umar and Omar. These are not unusual names in the muslim-majority countries of Pakistan and Bangladesh. There are many popular Arabic names generally in those countries. Muslims are a minority ethnicity in India.

I made a mistake in my previous post. The alternate spellings of Oumair are Umair and Umayr. I don't believe Omar has the same root or source (but I could be wrong!). The variations are transliterations (i.e. from a different alphabet), which can lead to variant spellings In English.

IMO this case is likely to get extensive coverage in India, because women physicians and trainees have become vocal about sex crimes against them in hospitals. Plus, the current political climate is opening the long-standing wounds of conflict between Hindus and Muslims in India.

If it proves there are additional victims in India, ethnic division could make this a very inflammatory case.

Bouchard said investigators believe the alleged criminal activity goes back at least six years.

"This is, and I can't stress this enough, so much the tip of the iceberg," he said.

Bouchard said Aejaz is an Indian citizen who has been working in the United States on a visa, coming here around 2011. Aejaz completed his residency at DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital and also spent time in Alabama, according to the sheriff's office. In addition to the hospitals in Grand Blanc and Clinton Township, Bouchard said investigators are still trying to determine other locations Aejaz, who specializes in internal medicine, may have worked."

Yes airportwoman, there was such a case. Sadly and unfortunately. Earl Bradley, Lewes, Delaware. And there is a WS thread (now closed) on that case of utter depravity. I won’t refer to him as a ‘Dr.’. IIUC Bradley was ultimately sentenced circa 2017 to 14 life terms plus 164 years, or thereabouts. Below is the later link for that case. It seems relevant perhaps in light of the possible similar offenses IIUC, and also the just sentence IMO. MOO:

Agree. I am very thankful his wife turned him in. The scope of his activities is astounding. I hope she has supportive family and friends around her. Imo.

I am not surprised that multiple class action suits are forming.

If you search his name on Google, various law firms come up, discussing potential lawsuits against him, the institutions where assaults and recordings occurred, etc.... At least one of these legal firms lists the currently known places of his employment and practices:

I recall reading about this case during the summer. I live in Oakland County, MI so it's local for me. There are sometimes cases that are just too horrific for me to initiate a discussion thread. This is one of those cases: It is so despicable and disgusting that I don't even want to read or hear anything more about it.
