Oklahoma City daycare under investigation after baby stops breathing

An Oklahoma City daycare is under investigation after a baby in its care suddenly stopped breathing and was sent to a hospital.

According to the Warr Acres police report, officials said 6-month-old Liam Farrar was dropped off Thursday around 8:45 a.m. at Kelly Knipfer's home daycare.

In the report, police said Knipfer said Liam was in a Mamaroo, a baby swing, and was being fussy.

The police report said Knipfer picked Liam up when he started having "gasping-like respirations" before he went limp.

Police said Knipfer started CPR while another daycare worker called 911.

...

According to the Department of Human Services, Knipfer's daycare license was revoked on Dec. 18, 2018.

A DHS inspection report online shows a lengthy list of violations at the daycare including unsafe sleeping surfaces, falsified safety records and hiring caregivers without a proper background check.

The same report shows other incidents dating back to July 2018. In the report, it states a 19-month-old child was swaddled with a fleece blanket covering the child's entire body, head, and face.

Unfortunately, Liam passed away February 27, 2019.

This woman should have never been allowed to have children in her home while her license revocation appeal was processed. JMO

Nightmare of nightmares. What a beautiful little boy.
Wrongful Death Attorneys, please line up.
First Degree Murder -- she's in Big Trouble, and should be. Then there's the boyfriend. Damm.
After inspectors cited problems, and before this child's death-causing injuries occurred, did she just do nothing and keep her fingers crossed?
WTH kind of place was this child "care" center?

What has taken 7.5 months to arrest these people? The daycare owner was operating on a revoked license plus the baby dies from abusive head trauma.

The baby’s cause of death should have been enough to arrest the owner much sooner than now. The mother took a healthy living, breathing baby to daycare. I would think LE would have been able to track the baby’s condition and the mother’s story quickly.

Let’s hope this couple haven’t been keeping children the last seven months! Such a sad story.

Well, they're not keeping them now, thank goodness, and if things go the right way, neither of them should ever even see another young child again.
