just my opinion, but I don't think she was cutting herself...if she's a true Wiccan, she that would have been against the Wiccan Rede, which in part, says "Harm none". That includes yourself.

I would think it's more about she's very petite, and probably got cold fairly easily. Again, my :twocents:

After looking at the tank top/bikini photos, I would tend to agree. However, we don't know how long Heather has been Wiccan. I've known many to come to the path after a lifetime of struggle. In fact I happen to know a particular Wiccan woman very well who bears the scars of teenaged cutting on her upper arms. She suffered the trauma of early sexual abuse and her life has been one of learning to love and value herself.

Given that Heather had recently come from the high heat of Las Vegas in June to the relative coolness of Central Oregon and it was near 80 that day, I would imagine that she was wearing a shirt with sleeves or a light hoodie. She seemed to like jeans too and that would fit if she'd been shopping for home repair items at Home Depot and Lowes. I wonder what her project was?

That would make sense about possibly coming from a life of cutting or self-harm prior to becoming Wiccan. I agree that many who have had much difficulty in their lives find peace in the path.

I have some thoughts, but I need to verify them before I can post them...:waitasec:

Thank you, Missizzy, as always you are very helpful.

I want to be honest, It kinda hurt to see on here that you guys might think that Heather was a cutter or has scars she wants to cover up. She didn't. Heather was a very healthy person. She ate good food and worked out sometimes during the week. She mostly wore shorts and tank tops out here in Vegas because it's 100+ during the summer. I seen her in shorts and tank top and never seen scars on her. Because she was so small, she did get cold easy. As for where she worked when she was in Vegas, she worked out of the house. I remember days I would go over to her house after work, and Heather would be sitting on the couch in a blanket because she was cold. Her roommate would turn the temp to 80 and that was kinda cold to her. The reason that she told me she wanted to move to Oregon was because of the coast. She loved the green and the weather, and the houses were getting cheap. She always said that for some reason her guide was telling her she would be happy in Oregon. Please understand, heather was a small women. 5'5 and maybe 105 pounds. It was just her genetics. She ate, she use to make me her famous chicken nuggests all the time. The only reason I believe she was wearing a jacket or hoodie in her pictures was because the pictures were taking in the late fall or winter time.

xdeadboltx--I'm sorry that some of our words and theories have hurt but thank you for being honest with your reaction. Investigations and discussion of theories are always painful. Please accept my apologies but I think we are merely considering any possible factor at this point. Please remember that none of us had the honor of knowing Heather and that we pretty much did come to the conclusion that possibly she was chilled due to her small size/metabolism.

Having raised five girls and knowing so many other young women has taught me much about the common act of "cutting". People who have not spent a lot of time around teens would really be shocked at how common it is. Some of the most self-assured and beautiful women I know have gone through a cutting stage. We had a son go through one.

I also wondered about tattoos as I have a daughter who works in a corporate position where sometimes she has to cover her tattoo. We're looking at literally everything--casting about for any possible clue that LE has possibly overlooked. Much of this discussion of clothing is related to my quest to figure out what Heather was wearing when she disappeared. It is beyond me why LE has not offered that information as I think it might jog someone's memory. The reason we were scouring the photos looking for scars or tattoos is that also is something people might remember. The police have provided photos of Heather's truck. Some people notice vehicles, some notice animals, some notice what someone is wearing. Unless LE already has this hemmed up and just haven't released that info yet, we need to widen the search for those who actually saw and interacted with Heather on her last day, IMO.

I've wondered why a photo which is over 5 years old is used on Heather's memorial site. She's also pictured with a different dog than she had when she died. It seems that her hair had grown longer, also. I'm really just trying to get a clear picture of what Heather looked like and how she dressed when she went shopping that horrible day.

You mentioned something in your post that I've wondered about. The coast. I haven't seen any mention of Heather traveling to the coast. I haven't seen anything she's written about the coast. Upthread, I commented that the coast was a 1-2 hour drive west of where Heather lived. The drive is a winding one over the mountains.

If you'll look on Heather's memorial page there is a post about a person sensing that the word Coquille might figure into Heather's death. Coquille is a town near the coast. Bandon is right on the coast. Being that the poster brought up the words "Randolph Lane" and I found a lodge on Randolph Lane in that area seems possibly of interest.

In all your time of knowing Heather, did you know her to ever visit casinos for either gambling or to do readings? The reason I ask is that there is a casino at the coast owned by the Coquille tribe.

Once again, I'm so sorry for your loss. With our family's experience with crime, I am well aware of just how painful the investigative process can be. It feels invasive and cruel at times. But I believe that everyone here has the very best intentions and wants to help.

(((hugs)))

Deep Thinker--I don't know how to enlarge it either but that's exactly what it looks like to me too. I have no idea is SM is Wiccan or if that even matters. His MS page sure doesn't (hmmm, it's now closed) show dragons or Pagan symbols, etc.

In going back over all of Heather's photos, I saw several pics of SM's sons (one who is now an adult) but none of SM. She seemed to be quite close to the boys and referred to them as family.

In the pics on her site which seem the most recent (with Louie), she is wearing a bit more jewelry--rings and necklaces. She's also posing in front of a shop (possibly in the Las Vegas area) which does readings. She was such a beautiful woman.

Lots of people (me included) like dragons just because they're cool, and it has nothing to do with beliefs or anything. His looks like a Chinese dragon to me, but I can't see it any more clearly than anybody else, so I'm not sure. It might be for good luck and good fortune, or it might just be cool.

FYI... Heather was not ever a cutter... She was just a thin person who got cold very easy... Often when we were still married, she would have blankets piled on her in bed, when I used only a sheet...

Heather was fond of a necklace that was a claw holding a marble... When we were there packing her belongings up, we (Friends and family) did not find this necklace anywhere... I went through her jewelry box and found everything but that necklace.

Did not think much about it missing, till we were on our way home and trading notes about the crime scene... Heather had made friends with a woman up there, we went out to eat with this woman before we headed home. A good friend that was there with us told me after she that she was wearing the same necklace... (I did report this to the police)... This woman is wiccan as well, is there some sort of power in owning something from a deceased person in wiccan??? Was this even Heather's necklace?

I have heard no new information from the police since Aug. They never even returned phone calls after I left messages about things like the necklace...

Missizzy, you are welcome to PM me if you want more inside information...

only71stitches--I know I keep saying this but I really hate to post some things as I know they will be hurtful for those who knew Heather. But, once again, I'm really sorry concerning the posts about cutting. I was only curious about her clothing, primarily because I assumed she might have tattoos she didn't want everyone to see. I know now that that was not the case.

I find it very interesting that Heather chose Central Oregon, being that she ran on "the cool side", as it's almost always damp and cool there. You should hear Oregonians complain when it gets "up to 80!!". I have to laugh as I lived for 14 years near Austin, TX. Oregonians really do not know what heat is. But thank you for clarifying that for me.

In reading over the articles about Heather I was reminded that she and her family traveled back and forth between Puyallup, WA and Southern California when she was a child. Possibly, she'd always liked the Green area. When we first moved here in the mid 90s, there was a shop in Sutherlin (I believe) just to the east of the freeway which had a huge mushroom on top. I think it's since closed but I can just see Heather as a teen remembering that mushroom. I never went into that shop but I think it sold crystals and herbs. I also find it interesting that she identified herself as a "green witch" and she lived in Green. I would think she would have loved the significance of that.

Concerning the talon necklace. Those are commonly worn in Ashland. I have an adult son who has one with an onyx ball. He's very into hawks and wolves--and dragons too. I find it worrisome that Heather's friend had the exact necklace but they could have bought them together. Heather's friend stated upthread that Heather had bought tennis shoes for the two of them. She seemed so generous. It would be interesting to see if the two women had purchased the necklaces at the shop in town. I'd think that they could pull up all of Heather's purchases. Unless, she had the necklace long before she moved to Green.

only71stitches--I tried to send you a PM but you are not yet able to receive them. You have to post a certain number of times before that option is available. I'll send it again when you have that privilege.

FWIW, I think that the necklace worn by SM in his photo is this one or something similar:

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001A4YAL0/autoblog1-20/"]Amazon.com: 16" Black Dragon Circle Necklace Sterling Silver Jewelry: Everything Else: Reviews, Prices & more[/ame]

I would guess that possibly Heather bought it for him. I think it just denotes strength. Wiccans and Pagans are surely not the only ones to think dragons are cool. I distinctly remember my eldest son breaking down in tears, 30 years ago, when he learned that they didn't really exist....at least where we can see them. He's come back from Burning Man several times and told me that they surely exist in the Black Rock Desert!!

Yes, I agree, if dragons exist anywhere in our reality, it's in Black Rock Desert.

Those ball-and-claw necklaces are variously described as dragon's claw or eagle's claw.

Missizzy- Heather didn't have any tattoos. She was going to get one with me when I got my arm done, but she chickened out. As for the casinos, we didn't go that much. She would drive so I can drink and we would play the penny slots for a few hours. Other then that we would go to Smith's or to this physic store. She became friends with a lady at the physic. We lived in this "outer" part of Vegas. We would have to drive 30-45 mins to get to something. So she never really went anywhere. She said the traffic drove her nuts.

Only71stitches- If im not mistaken Heather always wore a gold necklace here in Vegas. I can't remember what it was. I'll have to talk to my ex to see if he remembers what it was.

xdeadboltx--Do you know if this photo on Myspace of Heather and Louie and a friend was taken in Las Vegas?

http://www.myspace.com/asharp7/photos/38690270

Any idea as to what month and year this was taken? Someone commented on it in April 2009. It would be so helpful for the people of Roseburg to know what Heather looked like during her last few days IMO.

When you knew her in Las Vegas, was she studying for a degree or was she working at her carpet cleaning business? Or possibly both?

Missizzy- That picture is taken here. It's a little shop off of Eastern Ave & Pebble. She took me there a few times and I might Monica the lady in the picture. It is from 2009. I would say maybe march-april. Heather's look hasn't changed from that picture. The pictures of her and dave (sexy man) were taken sometime in the past 2 years.

As for the schooling, she's been doing online schooling since the day I might her. Unfortainly I have no clue what school it was. She use to tell me about a few people in one of her classes was a a$$hole. She's always had the carpet business during the day and then she would do her homework after like 3ish pm. She was studying for a degree. She changed her mind a few times. The last time we talked about it, she was going to physically. She ALWAYS wanted to help people.

Missizzy- The picture of heather with sunglasses and pig tails was about 1-2 years ago. Now the necklace shes wearing in that picture. I've only seen her wearing that one. Its a silver dragon.

I have just finished reading all of this thread. I can't believe that there has been no arrest made in this case! My heart goes out to the family and friends of Heather.

I wonder if perhaps they thought they had a suspect but DNA (if there was DNA) came back not matching their POI.

She was so small she could have been hidden in a closet or cabinet, under a bed or anywhere for her friends to have missed her in the trailer when they first looked.

I did find the Roseburg Beacon Weekly but cannot find a website address. It is referred to in the article below.

http://www.kpic.com/news/15903787.html

Tiredblondy--I've thought that a possibility also. I don't know how much storage was available in her house. I've wondered what Heather did when someone came to the door who Louie didn't know or like. Could he be aggressive or protective? Did she put him in the bathroom or a back bedroom? Someone could have killed her and hidden her body just about anywhere.

Friends and neighbors showed up to check the house for her but I doubt that they would immediately think the worst and check the closets, not for a healthy woman. I would, but I'm used to looking for children who are acting out or hiding. I would think, though, that if they let Louie out of a room, he would have made a beeline for his girl. I would think that if she was under a bed or in a closet, he would have raised quite a ruckus until they let him get to her. Here's all that was reported:

http://www.nrtoday.com/article/20100812/NEWS/100819943

"...MG [Heather's new friend of 3 weeks] said that two days before Heather Thompson's body was found, he called her house repeatedly and received no answer. The next day, a friend of his went to Thompson's house to check on her. When the friend arrived,

she found that Thompson's truck was in her driveway.

Louie (her dog) was in the house.

The front door was open.

But Heather wasn't there.”

MG and Thompson's neighbors searched around the house later that day and couldn't find her...."

and

"...Citing the ongoing investigation, he declined to say exactly where the body was found and whether detectives believe a weapon was used...."

Is it possible that no weapon was used and she was strangled?

I've not read much about neighbors' comments either. So often, we can read scores of comments by neighbors concerning a crime, following news articles, but hardly anything.

I've seen that article on the change of ownership for the Beacon. It doesn't really have a presence on the internet. This is all I can find:

http://www.roseburgbeacon.com/

Just their motto, "Because you can handle the truth". How I wish we could find that particular issue. I'd like to read "the truth". As I've said before, if anyone local even read it and can quote it by memory, I believe that falls well within our rules. Snippets could also be posted on Heather's page.

I also wanted to point out that a couple people have posted that they thought they might have seen a post by someone named Heather Thompson concerning Kyron. I was doing some checking on that and learned that there's an herb business in Portland run by a woman named Heather. Here's her website:

http://www.celticherbs.com/

That comes up frequently when I'm searching but I don't believe there's any connection with Heather of Green. It might have been that woman who posted as she's in Portland.

Reading over my own post, the article linked above makes it sound as if a female friend went to look at the request of MG. I wonder if LE has confirmed that this was truthfully reported or are we taking a person's word for what was found on the first check? Here's the timeline as reported in the the two article links below (and a few details from earlier posts where links have seemingly disappeared):

http://www.nrtoday.com/article/20100812/NEWS/100819943
http://www.nrtoday.com/article/20100813/NEWS/100819926

Aug. 3rd--Heather talked to her dad in the morning but he was unable to reach her in the evening. MG repeatedly called Heather "at her house" (land line?) and got no answer. Maybe MG meant by cell but that's not what was reported. This is interesting as Heather had a cell phone as reported by her former husband. He sent her a text and I don't believe many land lines receive texts. dcc66, one of our posters, says that Heather did readings for her and that they spoke and texted frequently, as friends. Heather got off the phone at 1 pm on this day, telling dcc66 that she needed to do homework. In some of Heather's photos, one can see a cell phone clipped onto her jeans' pocket. Was her cell found? What about the records?

Aug. 4th--MG asked a female friend to stop and check on her. I've found that MG most likely lives in North Bend, OR which is a 1 1/2-2 hour drive to the coast. (Note that North Bend is no where near Bend, OR.) So, MG, must have traveled inland during the three weeks he knew Heather or she traveled to the coast. He met her through someone at Mystic Earth but doesn't exactly say what their relationship was--business, friend, etc. He states that he "loved" Heather and he mentions that she was always smiling so most likely he saw her numerous times. He mentions talking with her while she did a "cleansing" of a friend's home. I wonder if this is the same woman who he asked to check on her? The woman who MG called, went to Heather's house, noted that the door was open, the truck was there, and Louie was present.

Later that day, MG showed up and he and neighbors also checked the property. I'm starting to wonder here why closets weren't checked. By this point, if I was a friend, I think I'd be starting to consider some awful possibilities. The door, the truck and the dog are all huge red flags IMO. Notice that there's no mention of a purse, wallet, or cell phone either present or missing. The female friend of MG's called LE.

Aug. 5th--LE searched the home/property and found Heather's body. Is this typical to wait to search? When I went missing once, within 20 minutes, S&R were called out and everyone in my address book and all the neighbors were questioned. I realize that I have a health issue but there were some strange elements in Heather's disappearance. I would think that LE would immediately respond to the home just to do a check and then release a missing person's report.

Aug. 6th--SM was arrested for using Heather's credit card. Being that family stated that he'd moved to Sutherlin by this time, it's highly possible that he didn't even know that she was dead on the 6th as police had only found her body the day before. They would immediately put a watch on her credit card and he used it. Being that they'd lived together, it doesn't raise a lot of red flags for me that he had her credit card number. He could have ordered something over the internet on a Paypal account that they used. I'm not defending him just thinking of all possibilities.

Aug. 9th--SM was released with no charges filed (pending completion of the investigation). This tells me that LE aren't too worried about SM.

To my mind, the biggest questions are about MG and the female friend. The woman seems to have been the first on the scene and MG arrived a short time later. I'm not quite sure how or if these two people were ever in contact with family or even knew whom to contact. Heather's family also called LE but they were already on the scene. I'm fairly sure these two folks could explain their actions if they are allowed to and happened to find us.
