For Only71Stitches have you and the family thought about trying to write to the news or police, or how about America's Most Wanted? They could put the case on the tv. Alot of people watch that show. Hopefully they would get clues from people calling into the show. Someone has to talk or know what the hell happen that day.

I know that Mercyneal, who is very active on the William Ayres (San Mateo serial pedophile psychiatrist) thread, has been successful in placing small ads in newspapers and free ads on Craigslist. The WilliamAyresWatch site runs these ads and they say something "Do you remember this person?" They always add the detective's number to call to report anything and a comment about the fact that the caller may remain anonymous. I would place it in the "General" or "Local News" section. It might be helpful to designate a family member to change up the ads a bit but keep them reposted every four days. Everybody up here reads Craigslist. Just a thought.

71stitches, I know you can't give us any info but I am just perplexed as to where Heather's body was. I understood that friends and possibly family had searched the premises. If something even more horrid happened, doesn't the community deserve to know? Not from you, mind you, but LE? Is there any possibility that others could be in danger?

You are correct in that houses in Albany are very inexpensive right now. Was she planning on moving there to be closer to SM's son? Is this young man a relative of hers?

She was not moving there to be closer to SMJr. Heather had kicked SM out and wanted nothing more to do with him after he took off with her truck one night. She kicked him out, took his cell phone (Which was in her name) and DID NOT share a credit card with him...

Now as to where she was found............. OK, a local, weekly, paper up there called the Roseburg Beacon had the story 100% right, if you can find a copy of it (I don't remember what day it ran, must of been about the 9th of Aug), you will have your answer... From what I understand, the police up there were upset that this paper had all the info correct and must of stopped the other papers from running the same story...

I hope that helps....

only71stitches--Honestly, I've never even heard of the Roseburg Beacon. It must be a very small, only locally known weekly as I've seen neither hide nor hair of it. I just checked and it doesn't look like any prior issues are on line. If you have a "hard-copy", you can certainly post a few lines from it (up to 10% of the article) from it. Unless you are expressly forbidden by LE from releasing information, I can't imagine that it would not be OK. If you have questions, though, check with the DA's office.

Let me see if any of the news stations picked up that part of the story. I'm not kidding when I tell you that I've spent hours researching this case and I don't recall reading where Heather's body was found. Let me keep looking. Thank you for clearing up the info about SM. Please realize that I'm grasping at straws and never ever mean any disrespect.

I found these quotes:

"Police found the body of Thompson, 39, on property at her Green home last week...."

I have to say that I'm baffled. It's reported in every article I find that "officers found her body" either "in her home", "at her home" or "on her property". It's been reported that family and/or friends looked at the house when Heather missed an appointment and didn't reply to calls or texts. Was her body well hidden or in an outbuilding or crawlspace? Wouldn't her dog have been sitting near her body or led people to her body? When I have a seizure and am unresponsive, my husband always follows the dogs. They know where I am. I'm often in weird places but they always know. Louie would have known, IMO.

Or was Heather killed elsewhere and then her body taken later to the home?

I need help. I need to see that Beacon.

Possibly of interest:

http://rememberheatherthompson.blogspot.com/

Read the post from September 23rd. This woman brings up an interesting name. There's a person by a variation (nickname) of this name listed in Sutherlin and Roseburg. The poster believes the name refers to a street but I also found a person, FWIW. I'm not sure if it's pertinent or not.

There's talk of Coquille and Bandon on the memorial page by a woman who seems to be "seeing" information about Heather.

First, I need to humbly say that I'm not a true believer in the "sight". I'd like to be. I try to have an open mind, however, and I will always be respectful of others' beliefs.

FWIW, Coquille and Bandon are two small towns out near the Oregon coast. One would leave Roseburg on Highway 42 and travel a winding road west. Coquille is about 60 miles west with 4200 people and Bandon is another 20 miles west, right on the coast, with about 3500 people. Bandon is a popular tourist town because of its famous dunes. Coquille is also the name of a Native tribe. There is a casino, The Mill, in Bandon which is owned by the Coquille Tribe.

I did see the street that this woman refers to in Bandon. It's odd as it doesn't come up on a search of the maps. I do find it here:

http://www.roundlakelodge.com/finding us.htm

http://www.roundlakelodge.com/photo.htm

This is a private guest lodge, near the dunes and the golf course. It's closed for the season now but would have been busy in August. The coast gets a lot of visitors during the summer as it's always cool out there. Could Heather have visited the lodge with someone and then brought him/her back to Green with her?

Only the family might know if this is of interest. Does anyone know if Heather went to people's homes to do readings? Could she have gone to the casino with a friend? I've never seen mention of her gambling but she did live in the Las Vegas area and it might be a hobby. Could she have gone to rescue an animal or to pick up a friend?

If she wanted to go to the beach for some reason, Bandon would be the logical place. In all my research, though, I haven't noticed a lot about seeking out the ocean. If you look at where she's lived; Lancaster, CA, the Las Vegas area, and Green, OR, the ocean doesn't really figure in. If she'd have wanted to be close to the coast, she could have certainly found inexpensive places to rent there and a ready made community of other Wiccans. She'd also shown interest in Albany, OR which is not near the coast.

A lot of people look at maps of Oregon and mis-gauge just how long it takes to get to the coast. As the crow flies, it looks like an easy drive. It's over the mountains, though, and takes a good while.

only71stitches is right, SMJr had no respect for Heather--he took her kindness for granted, he didn't pay rent when he finally got a job and she was happy when he found a house to rent next to his job in Sutherlin...She knew he wasn't going to stay long when she moved there...
I am pretty sure Heather didn't go anywhere that day Missizzy....she had a paper to finish. We ended our phone call at 1pm Oregon time and when I called her to check back in (like we always did) it was 6:30 Oregon time and she didn't answer....which was not like Heather.
As for Cherry Divine's message on Heather's memorial page..it's interesting. Maybe the person who killed her is from one of those places....

dcc66--Thanks for the timeline. That tells me she probably didn't travel out to the coast. I cannot find a copy of the Beacon. I even called a relative of a friend of mine who lives in Roseburg and they hardly new of it. If anyone has a copy of it, quotes can be posted. I believe that if you read something in the Beacon, you can also quote it from memory as long as you attribute it to the Beacon. All this is dependent on what LE and the DA's office is requesting.

Concerning the phrase, "Randolph Lane", that was kind of strange as it doesn't come up on most map search sites. I found a traffic accident listed on that street and the lodge. That's it. Could the killer have stayed at that lodge? Could the killer by someone by that name (only a nickname comes up--but close, in Roseburg and in Sutherlin). I can find no info on that person, however, and I've tried.

Did the family get Heather's computer back? Is it possible to see how much work she did on a paper? I'm assuming she was taking online classes. That might narrow down the time of death.

I hope all the family and friends reading fully understand what I'm trying to do here. I am grasping at anything and everything, really not knowing what I'm looking for. I'm trying to post everything I find and to give some insight from what I know about Oregon after moving here myself from California 17 years ago. It worries me that no information has been released about Heather's death as one wonders if other women are in danger. This cuts very close to home for me.

I've been going back over this thread to see if I'm forgetting anything. So far, I've made a few notes:

1) We never figured out what SM's pendant is (or if it matters). It concerns me as it might denote membership in some group which could have touched Heather's life

2) I found a quote on a horribly racist site, Stormfront, directing people where they should move in Oregon if they want to stay away from any diversity. From Post #74:

"I like Glide, on the outside of Roseburg. Roseburg is pretty OK, as long as you stay away from the outskirts that called "the Green' it yicky with low incomes building their bungalows there, yick.

But, there's a really kewl Wicca shoppe in Roseburg that does this neat thing couple times a year, in this tri-corner of the city, with a Ceremonies and it was just awesome to watch the Witches do their ceremony that day!"

3) In Posts #81 & 82, we discuss a recent news article with these quotes:

“When we lived together our house was commonly seen as like a homeless shelter. Any of our friends had a place to stay ... she'd take anybody in.” and “She was big with friends. She didn't like to be alone. She always liked to have people around.” [From Heather's former husband]

4) Wrinkles posted a timeline based on news articles in Post #82. It's odd but he/she says that he/she's referring to the article linked to in Post #81 but I don't see the facts about searching the house in that specific article. Maybe they are referring to another article or the NR article has been modified (although it is dated Aug. 13th and Post #82 is dated that same evening).

5) Post 82 & 83 have lots of details, some of which seem to have disappeared. The name of a MG also comes up; a man who "loves" her and who met her through a friend 3 weeks prior at Mystic Earth.

6) Post #84 raises some excellent questions about the phone calls, searching the house, and Louie, the dog.

7) xdeadboltx says in Post #85 that Heather's body was "in the house the whole time" and that Louie was locked up. Apparently Heather never crated Louie. Why wouldn't the friend that checked the house and who said "the dog was there" have noted that he was "locked up".

8) Looks like keen.com still have Heather's site up, under the name LadyDragonfly57

9)Wrinkles brings up some good questions in Post #97 about just who "we" is on keen and Moonlight Path. Who says that Heather's services are no longer available?

10) Alar brings up some questions about who was editing the Moonlight Path site and modifying possibly after or even before Heather's death in Post #100.

11) tlcox brings up an interesting point in Post #104 concerning a psychic who posted about Kyron who was named Heather. Not sure if she verified this or if it still exists.

12) The Moonlight Path did get edited sometime in September it seems:

http://www.moonlightpath.com/

Follow the path to yourself, unplug & find the floor... and there's an announcement of Heather's death. I find it interesting that the name is a well known one and the products sold by LOTS of people (over 3000 listings on ebay alone) and yet Heather and her former husband must have owned the domain name. Am I correct in this assumption?

13) In Post #126, only71stitches signed on. He's Heather's ex and answers some questions. He says that Heather got the name for Moonlight Path from a Bed, Bath, and Beyond lotion she liked. OK. He also says that he took over the site so that sales would stop after her death. The ASharp carpet cleaning business (and her license plate) came from his brother's interest in music (Heather's business partner) and CLDHRT came from a comic strip that he used to write.

14) only71stitches states in Post #131 that Louie is still in pain and that he was the only witness to the murder. Louie's living with a family friend.

15) dcc66 states that Heather did readings for her in Post #138. She says that Heather did not give out personal information. Being that she was friendly and comfortable with dcc66, however, leads me to believe that she might let down her guard with others. JMO. dcc66 also says that Heather got off the phone at 1 pm as she needed to do homework.

16) In Posts #140-141, I post about Heather's readings and reviews on ebay.

17) In Post #142, there's questions about dating sites.

18) In Post #144, Belinda comments that someone who had her phone number could most likely run an address check on her.

19) In Post #146, dcc66, says that Heather was almost completed with a degree in Psychology and had friends all over the US. She (I'm assuming that dcc66 is a female, if not, my apologies) says that she and Heather would speak for hours about Heather's plans. Hours? Would this be by cell? There's an interesting comment here about Heather. dcc66 says that Heather saw butterflies all over town the last two weeks of her life. Maybe Roseburg is different than Ashland but we don't have butterflies in July or August.

20) In Post #148, I refer to a comment on Heather's memorial page about her not wanting to be alone on the night of August 3rd. That seemed unlike the spirited Heather I have been reading about. I also noted that she moved to Green on June 3rd. August 3rd would have been her second month anniversary in town.

OK, I'm exhausted. I'm also left with some serious questions.

Why was this man, MG, in love with Heather after only 3 weeks?

What school was she studying through?

How many people did Heather truly give her number and address out to?

Why was she afraid to alone on the night of August 3rd?

Why did the first friends to the house not find the body, notice anything amiss with the dog, nor call LE?

In going over our entire thread, I didn't see something that should probably be here. Most of you know that I've been helping an author research a 1988 disappearance in Kansas. LE is in full agreement that some sort of occult or satanic ritual was involved. When I started researching that case, I began to learn more and more about special "high" days for satanists. Please, please note that I, in NO WAY, equate satanism to the practice of Wicca. Not in any way at all. However, I do know that some satanists have been known to frequent shops selling herbs, crystals, and items for spells, etc.

I've seen nothing at all that leads me to believe that Heather "stumbled into something evil". However, the poor woman is dead and she died on August 3rd which leads me to this:

Jul. 20 ~ GRAND CLIMAX (thru Jul. 27) ~ (date varies annually ~ 5 weeks, 1 day after Summer Solstice
(Sexual and Blood Rituals)
Abduction, ceremonial preparation & holding of sacrificial victim for Lammas Day
Oral, anal, and vaginal, and human sacrifice

Aug. 1 ~ LAMMAS DAY
(Blood Ritual)
Animal and/or human sacrifice

Aug. 3 ~ SATANIC REVELS
(Sexual Ritual)
Oral, anal, and vaginal

These dates can be found all across the internet--for both serious practitioners to the "dabblers". I'm concerned as Heather had professed a fear of being alone that night and that seemed out of character. I wonder if she'd heard rumors of a "ceremony" or a gathering. There have been some strange things reported in Central Oregon on satanic high days, over the years.

Knowing these calendars have caused me to always consider the date when looking at certain types of crimes. The fact that LE is not releasing the COD, concerns me. The fact that her body wasn't readily spotted, concerns me. I've spent too much time researching the disappearance of Randy Leach and the murder of Zachary Irwin of Illinois to not be concerned.

If these facts bring the family and friends grief and pain, I humbly apologize. I want to learn why this lovely and vibrant and beloved woman died.

Good question!! Being that she was seen earlier that day, out shopping at Fred Meyer, Lowe's and Home Depot (as reported by "father" on her memorial site), I would think that her clothing must have been noted by someone and/or caught on surveillance tape.

Many of the things I've read about Heather describe her as wearing jeans and t-shirts and that's the way she's depicted in every photo I've seen. She's shown wearing a tank top in one photo but I'm not sure that was in Oregon. The weather that day in Roseburg was in the low 80s. Native Oregonians would consider that hot and definitely tank top weather. However, Heather had only arrived two months earlier from the Las Vegas area and might not have thought 82 was as hot as we do.

As far as I know, LE has never released a description of the clothing she was wearing that day. I don't know if she did any of her readings by webcam, but could dcc66, who spoke to her that day, have also seen her by webcam?

I've also never seen a description of any jewelry Heather wore. I know a number of practicing Wiccans in Ashland and they wear a variety of talismans and crystals. Heather seemed distinct in that manner. She didn't seen to want the general public to know that she was Wiccan.

Thank you Missizzy...that was helpful.

Would the evenings there be cool? Maybe enough for a sweater or sweatshirt?

Also, would someone have a link to the pendant that was mentioned? TIA :blowkiss:

The weather that day was in the low 80s and the evening was around 52 with only a very slight breeze. The day before and the day after were similar. I'm not positive but I would think that Green would be a tiny bit cooler than Roseburg due to the heavy tree cover. However, they are both at around 525 ft. elevation. I have to say that surprised me as we're in Southern Oregon at 2000 ft. elevation and we get much hotter summers. Such is Oregon.

The pendant I am referring to is here:

http://www.myspace.com/crazy_loc

And Heather's MS (which has lots of photos) is here:

http://www.myspace.com/asharp7

Heather's memorial page is very sweet but please keep in mind that the photo used as the main one is over five years old and looks to be taken on an outing she took with a friend and his son in 2005. The dog in that photo is Jake. The dog she had when she died is Louie. He is shown as an adult and also as a puppy on her MS page. I know that I've commented that Heather didn't seem to wear any jewelry or talismans. However, on closer inspection of her MS pages, she did wear a number of necklaces, at least while she lived in California. I wonder if they were with her when she was found.

I also noticed today that she seemed to have a group of friends who had special needs. She referred to them as her "other family". I've wondered if Heather did some sort of home health care or supervision of outings. I haven't seen any mention of that part of her life anywhere.

In reading her MS page again, I noted that she says that she received her Associate's degree from Antelope Valley College in 2000. I still don't know how she was working toward her degree in psychology. I'm fairly certain it must have been via online classes as there's only a community college in Roseburg--Umpqua Community College. I know it's been stated that she had to work on a paper the afternoon she disappeared.

Out of the 3 1/2 years that Heather lived next door to me. She always wore t-shirt, jeans or shorts. Well most of the time she wore flip flops. The first time I seen her wear sneakers was when she came over to my house with a matching pair for me. We use to take louie for a walk out in the desert near our houseing development. I know she wore a gold necklace and a few rings. The Heather I met and came to know as a great friend. She didn't tell me she was a wiccan or physic till a few weeks after we met. I don't see her telling someone she just met she's physic, unless it was through that website for readings.

Do you mean the pendant around the guy's neck on the left side of the screen? I don't know how to enlarge it, but it looks kind of like others that I have seen that you can find at Renaissance Fairs...maybe looks like 2 dragons intertwined? But, like I said, I don't know how to enlarge the pic, so I could be totally off-base here. :waitasec:

Deep Thinker--I don't know how to enlarge it either but that's exactly what it looks like to me too. I have no idea is SM is Wiccan or if that even matters. His MS page sure doesn't (hmmm, it's now closed) show dragons or Pagan symbols, etc.

In going back over all of Heather's photos, I saw several pics of SM's sons (one who is now an adult) but none of SM. She seemed to be quite close to the boys and referred to them as family.

In the pics on her site which seem the most recent (with Louie), she is wearing a bit more jewelry--rings and necklaces. She's also posing in front of a shop (possibly in the Las Vegas area) which does readings. She was such a beautiful woman.

Thank you so much for this info, it is helpful. I have noticed in her MS pics that she almost always has a sweater or jacket on...wasthis normal? Sorry to be stuck on her clothing, but I have a reason, really I do :)

Thank you again, and I am so sorry for the loss of your friend.

I hadn't really thought of that, but you're right. I think that there's a tank top photo and one where she's in a river wearing a bikini top.

Having raised a number of daughters and knowing lots of young ladies in their twenties and thirties, there's usually only three reasons for that:

1) Being uncomfortable with your body's shape or size
2) Having a thyroid/metabolism/hormone imbalance which causes one to be cold
3) Hiding scars from surgeries, accidents, or self-harm, or possibly tattoos

Heather was strikingly pretty and looked to have a lovely figure. Being that she was quite fit, friends talk about her walking, she didn't smoke or drink; I'd have to say that she seemed physically healthy and strong. If anything, could she have been too thin, due to an eating disorder, and therefore layered on clothes so people wouldn't comment?

She wanted to move away from the desert because of the heat. That wouldn't make sense if she was always on the cool side. Central Oregon is typically damp and cool.

That really only leaves covering up due to scars of some sort. That makes me sad to think about. Cutting usually stems from deep unhappiness and a sense of powerlessness.

ETA: I just went through all the photos again. In each one where she's wearing a sweater or jacket, it seems to be in keeping with the others in the photo. I saw 3-4 which expose her arms and they seem natural. I see no obvious scars (even looking at the "sailor hat" photo from her teens). She does look to have skin that would tend to sunburn, though. She seemed to have a style of wearing a pretty tank or sleeveless top with a sweater over it. Could mean nothing at all or it could mean that her core temperature fluctuated a bit. If she commonly wore tank tops or floaty, pretty tops and worked inside a shop in the Lancaster/Las Vegas areas, she certainly could have gotten chilled inside without a sweater. That's really typical of peri-menopause/the 10-15 years prior to menopause.
