GLADSTONE, Ore. (KPTV) - Police and family are looking for a 31-year-old man who went missing on November 22 in Gladstone.

Kyle Kirchem drove away from his home and left his phone behind. Police believe he might have been in a mental health crisis.

The next day Kirchem’s car was found off the road in Estacada near Highway 224 and the Riverside Camp Ground. The airbags in the car did not go off and there were no signs that he was injured.

Police believe he might have walked back toward Highway 224. The Clackamas County Search and Rescue team searched the surrounding area but found nothing.

Kyle Kirchem is 31 years old, 5′11 and weighs about 155 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue and green flannel coat and black or gray pants.

Anyone who has seen Kirchem is asked to call the Gladstone police at 503-655-8211 and reference case #22-026372.

“I love Kyle so much and I miss him,” said Kirchem’s sister, Ashley Walton, one of several family members who continue to search for Kirchem. “I just want to know that he's OK.”

Walton said she believes she was the last person to see her brother, the night of November 19. She said Kirchem been feeling down and had struggled a bit with depression. She also said Kirchem loves to hike and believes that's what he was heading out to do when his car went off the road. From the gear they found, Walton said it looks like Kirchem had tried to tow himself out of the embankment before walking away.

“I don't think that he just drove out there to harm himself,” said Walton. “He's incredibly kind and caring and foremost he's a great father to an 8-year-old son who loves him and misses him.”

The Gladstone Police Department says 31-year-old Kyle Kirchem drove away from his home on Sunday, Nov. 20, leaving behind his cell phone. After his family reported him missing two days later, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office reportedly found his car abandoned off the road in Estacada near Highway 224 and the Riverside Campground.

According to officials, there were no airbags deployed or other signs that he had crashed or been injured.

Kirchem is believed to have left his car and walked back toward the highway, GPD says. The Clackamas County Search and Rescue reported that they searched the area but found nothing.

Kyle went missing from the Gladstone/Portland, Oregon area Sunday November 20th, 2022. His car was found crashed in an embankment off HWY 224, southeast of Estacada, close to the Riverside campground.

Through a tireless investigation following his disappearance OUR FAMILY has managed to gather the following facts:

• Sunday 11/20 Kyle left his home without his house keys & cell phone, only bringing his wallet & computer.
• He only had his debit and credit card with him, no cash. We’ve confirmed this with his bank that no money was or has been pulled out since days before he went missing. The last place Kyle used his debit card was at a pharmacy in Estacada on 11/20 (the day he went missing).
• A witness saw the car on Monday 11/21 (first day after going missing) & reported it to law enforcement immediately. However, the police failed to search for Kyle when they were notified of the crash.
• His computer was left in his car and his car keys were found (by family) next to the vehicle.
• 11/25 Snip...Charon K9 Solutions came to help and were able to track Kyle’s scent about two miles up the road towards Bagby/Detriot.

I really think this family is getting close since finding his jacket further along from the route that the dogs had tracked his scent. They are working so hard to find him....not any help from LE...too often the case.

Prayers for Kyle and his family.

I hope it’s not a family member who actually finds him…deceased…which is unfortunately the most likely outcome. Sad. Prayers to the family and everyone searching.
