OHHHHH, I did not know that.. I am sorry I brought it up. I will keep my thoughts about that in the astro thread should I delete my posts discussing that thread?
Nah, it is fine.

On KOIN 11 O'clolck News tonight the only things I learned is they said LE know no more about what happened to Kyron than they did on the day he went missing. The reporter said that twice.

Also, the public have been totally touched by the family's presser, reaching out to them, the searchers in thanks and to Kyron himself, letting him know they love him. Many feel it was such a difficult thing to do at the most traumatic time now in their lives, not having any idea where he could be.

I had a feeling that they didn't know anything more then they did a week ago. That means that no one saw anyone suspicious at the science fair? No clues in all their searches?
I kind of felt bad that the family had to make their statements. I feel like they caved to public pressure. I just don't think it did a thing to help Kyron come home, only put them out there for people to make judgements on. I knew they must be in tremendous pain, I didn't need to see it.
At this point my anger is at the school. I am glad I home school. I just don't feel like school is safe any more. Just my opinion but there seems like there was no security at the school. No camera, no signing in, no calling parents when children don't show up. LE has been fantastic in their response but what do you do when there are no clues?
Also I am glad that people are calling in sightings even though it probably isn't likely to be Kyron. At least people are looking out but I am sure that there are many, many children who look like him, especially with glasses. There is always a chance that someone took him and it helps to have people looking out. Right now, like LE, I have no clue what happened.

Sorry Carole... it's been a long time since I was on a non medical forum. :innocent:

The young boy who looks so much like Kyron, who's family has been getting harassed. The reason I could immediately tell the difference is because this second young man has CP - Cerebral Palsy. (I am actually pretty sure his family said that in the interview?) It is not glaringly obvious but I picked up on the drooling and the posture I suppose. I can't really put a label on it, I just recognized the difference. He also has both ears pierced. There really is a striking resemblance there though.

A birth certificate (even a copy) can be risky to have on you in person considering identity theft problems of today. Do children even have picture ID's? Is that what you mean in B)? Not to be sarcastic here, but why can't these people just refuse to answer their door or just say 'no comment' if they choose to do so?

Yes, of course it would be risky. But so is being followed and stalked because people think you have kidnapped a child. What if someone decides to physically prevent one of the parents or the child from leaving, because they are so convinced it is Kyron? The parents do have legitimate fears here which is why they did the interview, so people would know this child is NOT Kyron.

The issue is regular citizens out in regular public places. When someone thinks you have an abducted child that is probably not the best time to utilize "no comment."

If they do choose to go out in public, I am suggesting they have a copy of his birth certificate in their wallet, along with their own (the parents) picture identification on them at all times. Then when someone in the store, or the doctor's office, or the bank, thinks they kidnapped Kyron and says something, follows them home, calls law enforcement, whatever they decide to do.... they will have his birth certificate there, along with their picture ID's with the same names. I would also have family pictures from the last few years.

This is what law enforcement would ask for at a minimum. If they were not confident in being able to visually determine the child wasn't the missing child. No birth marks or scars clearly visible or missing, or major feature differences. Having these things with them and ready will just make their life easier. They won't have to go home from the store or doctor to get them, since it seems the issue isn't really happening at home where they have access to that.

Many civilians, would not believe a birth certificate... which is why I also suggest the letter from the Sheriff/FBI stating this is not Kyron.

I also think law enforcement should enter it into the database when they clear a Kyron "lookalike", so that if their name is run through the system again it will come up just like their other information. That they have investigated this and cleared this child. I imagine it would save time with them checking the same family 12 times without realizing it, because they were 12 different officers or even different jurisdictions. :twocents:

Hi, I am following this story and just wanted to post my prayers and wishes for this little guy. So many people thinking of you Kyron. Please find your way home!

MsFacetious, while I understand what you say, I guess we just see two different solutions, is all. Documentation is all too easily forged these days, even letters from the sheriff or police department. I've lost my wallet twice and in spite of the aggravation there was for me to get all my identification replaced (especially the DMV), what a sigh of relief for me that neither my social security card was in there, nor my birth certificate. Copy or no copy. Identity theft is such a problem that even children are targeted now. Getting bad credit at age 4 or 5, even younger, because someone got ahold of their social. I refuse to put it on the my child's paperwork for school or the dr's office.

Oh well, I feel for the people in the story, but had it been me I would have contacted the authorities that this was going on and let them resolve the matter.

I haven't been posting much in this thread, but wanted to reply to this post. Things such as this have happened in the past with reported sightings of missing persons. What usually happens is LE or the FBI rules them out as the missing child via birth certificate, medical records, school records etc. In this case, Kyron has not been in school too long, but as the family of this Kyron 'look alike' I would ask LE put info out in the media including photos of this 'look alike' child with his parents at a younger age. Family pictures of this child at birth, with his family at 2, 3, 4 etc. A 'kidnapper' would NOT have pictures of themself with a child they just abducted at a younger age.

I would never recommend carrying his birth certificate or any other personal info as proof, it is far too risky, but photo's on their person if some crazed person would actually approach them, or photo's in the media to dispel the myth might be a good option.

Anyway, watching Tony speak at the press conference was incredibly sad. He looks wretched/heartbroken. It has been really hard to read through the posts here that speculate anything negative about the family. I don't know Terri or Kaine, but I do know Desiree & Tony and they are sincere, kind-hearted people. The devastation they exhibited at that press conference was not put-on in the slightest.

Welcome. :)

I do not think I have seen any criticism of Tony at all, anywhere. There has been very little of Desiree on some news articles (only because she was the non-custodial parent, no other reason) and none here on this forum that I have seen.

I agree with you 100%, Tony was heartbreaking to watch. Every single/divorced Mom dreams of a stepfather for their children who loves them that much. He is obviously a very good Dad to Kyron and obviously very supportive to his wife. Desiree is obviously completely devastated and falling apart. Much as I would be, I imagine. :(

I agree with you about Terri and Desiree... I see no reason why an ex wife and current wife would be best buddies. I have no idea of the history with the whole family but I think they have managed to co-parent pretty well.

I also imagine that especially Tony and Desiree are struggling with the circumstances of not knowing what happened. I hope they are privy to more information than we are, if someone is cleared I hope they are told.

If you have seen any speculation about Desiree or Tony, I am so sorry. I have absolutely no doubts or suspicion about them whatsoever. Even if they hadn't been 5 hours away, they are obviously crushed. I think that people want to help even more now, because Tony and Desiree definitely touched a lot of people at that news conference. Regardless of what people think happened to Kyron, they want to help Desiree and Tony find him. I think they made the right choice by talking and I do think it helped.

Hopefully, we will see results from it in finding Kyron. Not just an increase in donations for the search effort.

Watching the news tonight I was stunned to see Kyron only weighed 50 lbs. Is that standard for a boy his age?

I also just read for the first time in this case that a white car with a female driver was seen driving on a dead end road near the school - twice, the day he went missing.

I would love to learn more about that !!! I assume the one shot of the oriental lady driving the white car with the boy wearing glasses in the front seat is one of those sightings? Ta

I should have added in my previous post. Not necessarily pictures of this minor child and his parents at a younger age, but a statement from LE to the public indicating how they ruled this child out as being Kyron. IE, birth certificate, medical records, photos of him as a toddler etc. That may help end the speculation and if I were the family, the photo's - or - copies of those older photos with the look alike as a much younger child may help.

It was Tionda Bradleys case this exact thing happened with. somone found a Tionda lookalike on Myspace and she looked so much like the real missing girl, that the FBI went through the above steps to rule this possible match out as being Tionda Bradley. (there are links to the above in Tionda's thread here at WS in the missing but not forgotten discussion forum.)

Just added to clarify.

Yes, it is. Kyron is 3'8" and 50 pounds - this is actually within range. His height is in the 3rd percentile, but his weight is in the 44th percentile. So he is little shorter than average, but he is heavier than 44% of other boys his age.

What a neat answer Sofia, tak sa mycker ;}

I did not see this in the timeline/media subforum thread for Kyrons case.

Has it been confirmed by LE Kyron did in fact make it into the school Friday morning? I have not fully kept up on all the threads, but tried to see if that had been answered in the other subforum prior to asking.

Yes, I believe that LE confirmed that the picture of Kyron next to his science project was taken that morning at school, and also that he was seen there at 9:00 am, but they wouldn't say where and by whom.

TY. I wasn't sure if that picture was taken the morning of the science fair or previously when the science fair was set up - IF the students were allowed to set their projects up earlier so they would be ready for the fair Friday morning.

a little OT- but that scares me. I have a son a few weeks younger than Kyron who just finished 1st due to our state cut offs being Sept 1.
-ugh-
I had to have the conversation with my son about Kyrons case and how if he does not know an adult at school, or recognize them as a teacher or parent of one of his friends he is NOT to think they are in a position of authority. That they are 'strangers'. God it was AWFUL to have that conversation but having left the news on ( and this case made local news in Chicago) he was aware of the case and asked since the child went missing from school.

I so hope my gut is wrong that Kyron was in fact abducted by a 'pedo' stranger or someone who had access to the school. Either from inside the building, or on school grounds if for some reason Kyron decided he needed to go back outside - even if to ask his sm something before she left? Idunno, I just do not have a good feeling about this case, and I think the outcome will be shocking when it does come out. My theory does not include anyone in Kyrons family.

Welcome to WS sofia76.

Thanks, Cubby. I am not far from where Kyron lives and went to school, and I am fervently hoping for his safe return. It was chilly enough to turn the heat on tonight and I can't help but think of him and hope he is in shelter and hanging in there.

Watching the news tonight I was stunned to see Kyron only weighed 50 lbs. Is that standard for a boy his age?

He is a bit shorter than a typical kid so he weighs a bit less.

Very ironically... my daughter's (born 2.2003 and 12.2003, I believe Kyron was born 9.2002) are both also 3'8 like Kyron. One is 51lbs and the other is 54lbs. They both wear size 7 pants like Kyron but they wear 12/13 shoes instead of 11's. They really are pretty close to the same size I believe.

That is actually one of the things that surprised me a bit with Kyron's case. With Ethan Stacy it was made very clear that he looked older than 4. With Kyron, no one has mentioned that he is small for his age and so he may look younger than 7. :waitasec:
