Human remains found in retention pond in Montgomery County, police say

Police in Towamencin Township, near Lansdale, found human remains after, they say surveyors working near the intersection of Welsh Road and Grist Mill Drive spotted a skull in a retention pond on Monday morning.

Law enforcement officials in Montgomery County are investigating after human remains were found in a retention pond after workers in Towamencin Township discovered a skull there on Tuesday morning.

According to police, the incident began when officers were called at about 11:58 a.m. on Tuesday after surveyor crews working in the area of Welsh Road and Grist Mill Drive found, what they believed, was a human [skull] in a retention basin at that location.

In just one hour, Delaney determined the remains were those of a man who was at least 40 years old and 5' 6" tall with healed trauma to his rib cage.

Delaney said her next step will be to upload her report to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System database to hopefully find a match.

I would assume they meant healed as in old wounds that were not part of how they ended up in the water.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office is nearing an identification of the skeletal remains found in Towamencin Township in March.

Coroner Dr. Janine Darby said investigators went out to the location where the body was found a second time, and were able to locate a mandible and a cell phone.

Several months have gone by since a chilling discovery was made in Towamencin Township, but now officials say they have an update.

In a press event on Tuesday morning, Montgomery County Coroner Janine Darby said that, by using DNA testing, the remains were determined to having belonged to Isaias Hernandez-Geronimo, a 37-year-old man who lived near where to body was found.

Coroner listed the cause and manner as "undetermined." The case is closed. family never reported the man missing in the 2 years since he was gone. he and his family moved to the area 4 months earlier. family and officials did not identify or release where they were originally from, whether or not the missing man was a citizen, or if he had prior health problems. When reporter asked why family did not report him missing, the coroner interrupted and said that question was 'inappropriate."
