(FYI - I thought Nicole's abrupt passing was very ironic so I wanted to post it on Autumn's thread)

Hi, I'm a reporter who spoke with the medical examiner for the Autumn Klein case, as well as the recent case of Nicole Kotchey. I thought the WebSleuths community might be interested: http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2014/dec/11/mystery-cyanide-kills-second-woman-pennsylvania-hospital

thanks for the post but with all due respect, does it say anything we didn't already know or consider? I don't see anything we didn't already know or discuss here. What am I missing?

I, for one, did not know about the 2nd woman, so I thank the poster for this link. I wonder if his appeal based on this info will work now?

An Allegheny County jury had more than enough evidence to convict Robert Ferrante of first-degree murder for the death of his wife, prosecutors said Friday in response to the former University of Pittsburgh researcher's request that a judge overturn his conviction or grant him a new trial...

Ferrante's lawyers, Bill Difenderfer and Wendy Williams, filed a request seeking a judgement of acquittal or a new trial, claiming the jury's verdict “rested solely on circumstantial evidence”...

Common Pleas President Judge Jeffrey A. Manning, who presided over the case, is scheduled to sentence Ferrante to a mandatory term of life in prison without the possibility of parole on Wednesday.

Ferrante gets a mandatory term of life in prison without possibility of parole in the cyanide poisoning death of his neurologist wife.

Ferrante had testified that he didn't greet Klein at the couple's back door and hand her the energy drink the night she fell suddenly ill, even though police detectives said Ferrante told them that's what happened when they first interviewed him. That and other evidence is what jurrors say helped them make up their mind on conviction...

If you look closely at the details of the cyanide levels and the timeline, then it is obvious this is a "false positive" and Robert Ferrante is a wrongfully convicted man. The chemistry of the cyanide assays is almost identical to an assay for thiobarbituric acid (TBARS) which measures a metabolic artifact created by a heart attack. The medical examiner should have picked up the inconsistencies in the data, but was lazy and decided to just pile on. This is a modern "J'Accuse."
