Authorities are asking for help in locating a missing Penn Hills woman who could be endangered due to lack of necessary medication.

Nia Rash was seen at a bus stop near the intersection of Frankstown Road and Duff Road in Penn Hills at 4:15 p.m. on Dec. 28,2022, according to Penn Hills police.

She was also seen getting off of a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus at Penn Avenue at South Graham Street in Pittsburgh’s East End at 4:53 p.m. that day.

Her family told authorities that Rash requires medication, which was left behind when she left her residence.

Rash was wearing a black coat with fur on the hood, gray sweatpants and light brown Ugg boots when seen last.

Police are requesting that anyone with information about Rash’s whereabouts call 911 or contact the Penn Hills Police Criminal Investigations Division at (412) 342-1167.

Reminds me of Tonee Turner and almost missing to the day of her anniversary, both taking buses in areas that werent extremely far apart. Both similar size and age. Still wondering why Nia was reported missing over a week later though.

“This is so unreal, but it’s, like, my reality,” Shannon said.

Shannon told Dateline that she and Nia are very close. “She’s my middle child,” she said. “She’s the one that will still like climbing in the bed with me.”

Shannon said that her daughter is very inventive and courageous, but most of all — loves being with her family. “She likes when everybody’s altogether,” Shannon said. “She’s a very loving person.”

Shannon told Dateline that upon graduating high school, Nia got a degree in psychology at a community college in Pittsburgh. She then started working towards her bachelor’s degree, until she began to face troubles. “I think everything started getting a little overwhelming for her,” Shannon told Dateline. “There was an onset, I want to say when she was like 22, of a mental illness. That’s when she started to kind of display different characteristics.”

A body was found in the river in Crescent Township on Monday, police said.

Photos from NewsChopper 2 showed first responders, including a fire truck, at the scene. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified the woman as 25-year-old Nia Rash, who had been missing since Dec. 28, 2022, and was last seen getting off a bus on Penn Avenue in Pittsburgh
