Police are not naming the girl's family members, but said her mother told them the girl was last seen after trying to crawl into bed with her parents about 12:30 a.m. The mother told police she put the youngster back into her own bed in an upstairs room.

Does anyone else find it odd that the poor child has large scars on her earlobes? The only reason for this I can think of would be someone yanking earrings out of them while intact.

Most likely keloid scars from piercings. Common in african americans. They just happen, and they are pretty common from piercings.

Because 999 chances out of a thousand, it would have been just a nightmare and once back in bed she would have slept through the night. But I am sure if it hasn't struck the mother yet, it will- and she will suffer from that thought.

all i can say is that like most nites, and definitely from now on....if any of my four kids wants to get in bed with me, i will snuggle them all nite
sounds pathetic, i'm sure...but i just started letting my three and six year olds sleep in their own room (they always had a bed or pallet in mine)just in the last few months. i was always worried about having them in another room at nite, just too many weirdos

Unfortunately the Braddock/Rankin area is a rundown area with a lot of drugs. There are several methadone clinics operating in Braddock, which is not a large town. People avoid the area at night and if they must drive near there, keep their car windows up and doors locked.

This poor little one did not walk in the middle of the night in 20 degree weather from her home to the place where her body was found.

Most likely, it only remains for police to figure out which of the occupants of the home killed her.

Poor little Niya. Sometimes I find I need a little break from reading threads where an innocent victim, especially a tiny child is murdered. Sometimes there is only so much I can stand and only so many tears I can bear.

Little Niya's life was cut so short and in such a despicable way, and I hope that who ever Killed this precious child goes down and stays down.

This article reports that the baby died from hypothermia and exposure.

Her daddy has been arrested for indecent assault on two other children the same night she went missing. These charges are referred to as being unrelated to the disappearance of Miangel!

(My opinion)The other adults in that home must have some culpability in this. No way this much abuse is going on in that family and none of the others had a clue!

Thank you AeroFan for posting the update. This is just awful. The one and only possible goo from this that I can think of is that he will hopefully not be allowed around the other children to hurt or kill them. Poor little Niya, she was so young, just a baby. Prayers for her family.

Nyia Miangel Page, who was about to turn 2, was found dead Sunday on a wooded knoll about a 10 minute walk from the family's home. Tiny footprints in the snow suggested she had gotten up and wandered around before she died, police said.

Page told police he woke up early Saturday and found the girl awake and playing near a mirror in the hallway, according to the criminal complaint. He said he got mad when the girl wouldn't go back to bed so he hit her so hard she hit her head and was unconscious, the complaint said.

I didn't see another thread on this yet. This happened not too far from me so it is big in the local news. I am trying to understand this guys thinking. Did he believe he had killed her and so tried to cover it up by dumping her out in the snow? The little girl apparently gained consciousness and wandered awhile before dying. We have been exceptionally cold weather here this last week -- single digits and down to -20 degrees with the wind chill. It kills me to imagine the shock, pain and fear she felt as she succombed to exposure. What a horrible way to die.
