*(This needs more attention, and maybe some public pressure. I hope his family gets a thorough investigation.)

'Modern-day lynching:' Jamaican immigrant killed after being invited to white co-worker's PA cabin | Daily Mail Online

The family of a Jamaican immigrant found riddled with bullets to the back at a white co-worker's Pennsylvania cabin called his death a 'modern-day lynching' after the gunman was freed because he claimed the killing was in self-defense.

Peter Bernardo Spencer, 29, of Pittsburgh, was shot nine times - with two of the bullet wounds to his buttocks and one through the neck - after being the only black man invited on a hunting trip with four other people to rural Rockland Township on December 12.

The 25-year-old co-worker who invited Spencer reportedly admitted to police that he killed him in self-defense and was released by Vernango County District Attorney Shaw White.

White has refused to identify the shooter or the other three people until his investigation is complete. That man could not be reached for comment, however, and recently disabled his social media accounts, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

'The four individuals who were present at the time of the shooting were questioned and released after consultation with the Venango County district attorney,' police reported.

'There are nine shots fired beyond 24 inches of distance, or what we call long-distance shots,' said Wecht, who has investigating some of the country's highest-profile deaths, including President John F. Kennedy, Elvis Presley and JonBenét Ramsey.

'It's like looking at someone who got hunted down, which is absolutely horrifying.'

The private medical examiner has not been allowed to inspect the body or been given a copy of the coroner's report, but has studied pictures of Spencer's wounds provided by the embalmer.

Wecht explained that he needs the coroner's report to complete his work because the funeral home put a surgical instrument called trocar into Spencer's wounds, which 'destroyed' the possibility of further investigations of the gunshot wounds.

Firearms, ballistic evidence and controlled substances were recovered from the scene of the deadly crime.

'Modern-day lynching': Man found shot dead during trip with co-worker

Paul Jubas, the family's lawyer, released autopsy photos of Spencer on his social media accounts at the family's request. Jubas said the coroner's assertion that he was shot in the chest and abdomen is a "misrepresentation" and that the photos indicate at least four of the shots were to Spencer's back.

Attorney Jubas explained: 'Peter had a criminal case (involving illegal possession of a gun and drugs) that he was looking to clear at the time.
The week before Spencer's death the man who confessed to shooting him came round to his house and was, King said, going over the details of that case with Spencer.

And on December 10, the night before his death, Spencer told friends he saw two undercover cops lurking near his home and wondered if he was being watched.

That same night the man who later shot him sent an invitation to his family's remote rural property to Spencer via Snapchat.

DailyMail.com has learned that that man also has a criminal history and, family attorney Jubas revealed, he and some others at the cabin that night have been implicated in a massive and ongoing federal investigation into ghost-guns.

'Was Peter in a position where he knew too much about something more serious?' Jubas asked.

'He was wanting to start a new career, he had a new baby on the way, he would be motivated to cooperate with the feds perhaps if he thought it might help with his criminal case.

That’s a hunting cabin? With a shoot out door on the second level?

Three white men and a female and they invited him up to a remote cabin to go hunting? At night?

Had he been to this “cabin” previously for hunting trips? Did he bring his own gun?

Why was the coworker (or former coworker?) helping with his outstanding criminal charges? Did they work together at the catering company?

I hope all is quiet because LE is putting together an airtight case because there’s a lot of hinkyness.

Calls for arrest after immigrant found shot, killed in western Pa.

“According to Anderson, Spencer’s fiancé dropped him off to go hunting in Venango County with a former co-worker he had visited in the past.

“This time he was taken directly into the woods and not this person's mother's home … to the fiancé she didn't totally feel comfortable with that,” Stevens said.

Less than 24 hours later, when she went to pick up Spencer, he was dead. Stevens says the man who was taken into custody claimed self-defense.”
