I wonder why Gricar would print a map of the route to Lburg. Had he not been there many times? Was that map found in his car?
I'm just taking these point by point. RFG searched for a map, but we don't know if he printed it. He also checked the weather for both Lewisburg and Raystown Lake.
One possibility was that he was giving someone directions, but it is fairly easy to say, "Turn right at Centre Hall."
There are three reasons that I can come up with to look up a map.
1. To get directions. RFG was familiar with the route, so this is next to impossible.
2. To check the the mileage. Normally the only reason to check the that would be for reimbursement. If this a work related trip, why would RFG need to be so secretive about it? Why where no notes about it this, if it was official?
3. To check the time of the trip. Well, RFG was there and probably had an idea of time. He however, was known to have exceeded the speed limit, so his time may not have been driving time someone else would have.
#3 is the most logical that I can come up with. I'm open to others.
If I'm right, however, it would mean he was giving the drive time to someone in Centre County.
