They said 54-year-old Scott Clevenger was reported missing around 8:30 Saturday morning by an ex-girlfriend. They said they are concerned for his safety.

Police said Clevenger called that same ex-girlfriend around 5 a.m. and said he needed help and a ride.

Investigators said the ex-girlfriend told officers that she went to get him, but he wasn't there and his cell phone had stopped working. State troopers searched for Clevenger by foot and helicopter for two days.

Police said they don't have an exact location of where he was last, but they said they believe it was somewhere in the area of Humbert Road in Confluence.

Police said he was also at a bar earlier with a friend and their car had broken down on Colflesh Road nearby.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Somerset State Police at 814-445-4104.

An extensive search has been conducted in that area with no results – despite the use of helicopters over the Christmas weekend. Neisner said the challenge remains to be narrowing down the area where Clevenger might have ended up – if he’s still in the area.

At this point, state police aren’t calling the case suspicious, Neisner added, saying they haven’t drawn any conclusions whatsoever about the nature of the case aside from the fact Clevenger is considered missing.

State police have entered Clevenger into the National Crime Information Center database as a missing person, which means if any police officers comes into contact with him, it will be clear that law enforcement officials are looking for him and that state police in Somerset should be contacted.

“Right now, we’re hoping someone has information that can help us, so we can work any new potential leads,” Neisner said. “We’ve gotten a few calls. But we still need help. Anyone who might have seen him the evening he went missing, we’re hoping they will talk to us.”

I have so many questions!

So he had been at a bar with a friend, their car broke down, and then they both walked but got separated at some point somehow? The friend is not missing? The Namus page says last seen at 1am when leaving the bar. What happened to the friend?

Was Scott very intoxicated when leaving the bar?

Was the call for help at 5am only because he needed a ride, or because of another problem, medical, for example?

How was the weather that night? He had been out on the streets for 4 hours when he called his friend.

Did they check his home? Maybe he made it home.

It doesn't look good, does it?

Hmmm I'm wondering how he made it to Ohiopyle. So many trails.

I'd venture to say that he probably entered the water in Confluence, near to where he was when he called his girlfriend. The Casselman River goes through Confluence and dumps into the Youghiogheny River. Laurel Hill Creek dumps into the Casselman and then to the Youghiogheny. The Yough then travels north and west towards and into Ohiopyle State Park.
